Any Rays For Aquariums ?

I like most, love the Blue Spot Rays, but they need a dedicated large, and some require a round tank.

Are there any,....that would be fine in smaller tanks, like a 125g we're setting up ?

I don't think so. 125 would already be too small if it was completely sand zone with maybe a solitary rock or two. If it's a reef tank with a significant rock structure it would just be torture for the fish.

I think there are some smaller rays that may do OK in a 1000 gallon tank.

The exception may be freshwater rays. I think I've seen people keeping those in 300 gallon tanks.

I was thinking of keeping a saltwater ray about a year ago in a 5x5x2 tank but i quickly realized it was way too small. A 125g sadly is not sufficient for any ray species. A close friend of mine has a Motoro freshwater ray and trust me their not all that exciting, most of the day they just lay, dont think your losing out on much having a too small tank.

Even small rays are big fish as far as aquariums go. The golden ray I see is the Caribbean is about 18" long. I would think a fish like that would need at least 1000 gallons.
