Any rubbermaid style stock tanks that'll fit under a 24" deep tank?

Working out some design work for an upcoming build, and the tank footprint will be around 60" x 24".

Anybody aware of any stock tank or other plastic/polymer style sump that would fit inside those dimensions? I can always go with a 55/75 gallon tank, but I'm on a bit of a budget so I don't want to spend a fortune on an acrylic sump right now.

The rubbermaid stock tanks under 150g have a 4ft length. They obviously vary on height depending upon size

4ft length, yes, but aren't they all 30" wide?
Hmm yea I guess at their widest they might be. I have always used them on an open shelf so I was only ever worried about the bottom width.

Just go to Walmart & pick out a plastic storage container that fits your measurements,

There are various sizes. Make sure you buy the type that are thicker and more rigid....the cheaper ones are too thin and will bow out.

I have a ten gallon one under my 60g frag tank.

Not a bad idea actually, and there's a couple Contico and Craftsman ones locally that may work.

But I'm also looking for something in the 50 gallon range, so I may have to box it in somehow if things bow too much. Might end up being cheaper/easier to convert a 55 gallon tank if that's the case.

Worth a look either way.

The thick walled containers won't bow out. They are usually labeled "sterilite"

There are many sizes that will work. Go look and you'll see what I mean.

A 55-75g tank is too tall and will be a pain to use if you have it under the tank.

You could also daisy chaing two storage containers. Another plus is that they will absorb sound from pumps.

Keep in mind whatever you use I'd consider your skimmer if it's an internal.........they usually require only 9-10 inches of water. If you want the level higher then you have to put in a stand for the skimmer.

You seem to want a big sump.......why? Even a 40 breeder is plenty large enough for large skimmers and whatever else you would need.

alton,

His footpring is 24" wide if I'm reading it correctly.......that tub is 31". Those are perfect for sump rooms, basement setups or wider under the tank usage.

I'm honestly not sure yet what size sump I'm going to need. I'm still planning out the filtration equipment I'll be having under the tank, so I'm looking to keep my options open. I may still use a glass tank and add in baffles as needed, like I did for my last tank. At the moment I'm looking at having up to 3 reactors for different media, skimmer, return pump. Then I don't know yet about a refugium and/or algae scrubber. They can start eating up space pretty quick unfortunately.

That is absolutely correct. The only that changes is the height until you get to the very large ones

I would suggest building your own acrylic sump. I build mine. Use Weldon #16, its thick and forgiving
