Any Spearfishers?

I spearfish, but only freshwater. I don't live anywhere near a coast, and when I do get to saltwater it's usually in marine parks where spearfishing is prohibited. I might try it someday though.

I do, the gag grouper, red snapper and amberjack are excellent candidates....they love my fish cooker...they jump right in!

I know I have met at least 2 RC members from my area that also spearfish, just wondering who else does

Back in 1968-9 ling cod off point arena, and carp in Folsom lake...and dinner plate size abs with a car leaf spring...was no laws back then.....abs were everywhere!

And back in the 90's here...Gulf...many a zillion grouper snapper, amber jack....until I had one to many encounters with the big guys in grey suits...the last being a 12 foot mako..who was very hungry......so now I just use a hook and line...seems much fairer !!

That's awesome! My only shark run in was with a 10-12' seven gill off Carlsbad,ca it was super murky and by the time I saw it, we were 4' face to face haha

lol. that's like my son and I, 10 years old at the time, were snorkeling with a hawaiian sling around palm beach and had a few snapper in tow. then about a 8 foot bull decided we weren't eating snapper that day. keeps your head on a swivel for sure. :bounce2:

I go all the time. Great spearing in Tampa!
