Any suggestions on Mantis capture?

Got part 1 of my shipment in my tank few days before New Years and have managed to capture 3 mantis shrimp since then. First two were the bigger ones and the 3rd a medium green shrimp. I think I have 2-3 small guys left but I cant get them out.

What did you guys do to get them out? Did you ever get them all out? Did you leave the ones you couldnt?

probably just gonna have to take the rock out and look through the rocks then use the net to get them out, they will kill almost everything in your tank

Don't waste your time. They are (relatively) harmless and more interesting and difficult to obtain than any critter they might eat. (like hermits or shrimp or snails)

Try cutting a small plastic bottle at the bottom of the neck and then put it into the bottom of the cut bottle to form a funnel .Place some shrimp mussel or claims inside and place it at night in and around where you think the shrimp is ,this worked for me I caught five in a trap like this it did take a few months but I did get all but one which is still there seems to be causing no harm to anyone just that annoying clicking at night .Hope this helps Graham

Got the 75 gal package in May, like you I caught several right away. Left the rest alone, I now have 1/2 dozen snails and 1 hermit crab left. They pretty much got everything. I have since embarked on a campaign to rid the tank of them all, I have one last (very elusive) one left.

My opinion, get rid of them now if you don't want to have to replace ALL of your clean up critters a few months.

I think I have one left. He is rather small so I cant seem to get him out. I'm thinking of maybe shoving pebbles into the rock I know he's in so he cant get out and hopefully dies off.

Make a snare with a straw and some fishing like (i used 10lb mono)
lure him out with some food and SNARE, thats how i got mine out...
Then I ate him ... (optional)

I was also distraught about mine. I finally seen what rock the two of them like to hide out in. I carefully and slowly moved it to the top of the pile and waited for them to crawl into their holes. I took the light off of the tank and pulled the piece of rock out of the tank and poured seltzer water into their holes. 1 bailed right away. The other I took a ice pick to and killed with a vencence as I watched him gulp down one of the cool hitch hiker gobies that Richard sent.
Long story short rope - just wait them out THEN EXTRACT YOUR VENGENCE - LOL
I have removed 7 Mantis and about 15 gorilla crabs. I now let them live in the sick tank and duke it out for raw shrimp.
