Anybody else having strange problems w/ RC web site?

I don't know, it could just be my stupid dial-up connection... but for the past couple of weeks, I've had some troubles with the Reef Central web web site and frankly, some strange stuff happening.

I can't remember what night it was, but I logged on and there was only one new post, so I clicked on it and read the last post in the thread (I'd read the previous posts). Anyway, about 30 minutes later, it showed up as "unread" so I clicked on it again, but the "new" posts appeared above the one I'd just read... thinking that was rather odd, I looked at the dates/times of those posts, and they were posted prior to the one I'd read previously - in fact, a DAY before.

Some nights the page goes for hours w/o showing any updates (even though i manually refresh the page), only to log on the next day and see that there were 10 - 12 posts during the time I was actually logged on the night before.

Same issue with PMs - they're sent while I'm online, but they don't show up while I'm online... but a day or two later.

I'm also getting error messages regularly that say "the RC servers are wicked busy right now".

Is this a personal problem or is anybody else having these issues?

I have issues like that. dont get the emails for my PM's, the site taking FOREVER to load sometimes, Timing out, posting then saying I already did resulting in a double post.

UGH.

Jennie, there was some work being done yesterday (I don't know the details of it) but I know one of the admins commented that it involved restarting a server which caused posts in threads to fly all over the place until everything got synced back up again. Also the day before that RC hit a new record for number of people on simultaneously (over 12,000).

If you keep on having problems, post in the Feedback & Questions forum and it'll be looked at .

Same here, Getting the Busy message often and Pm's are not timely if notified at all. To me the board seems very inactive not very busy! Hmm

ReefCentral has never been an extremely responsive site for me, but the last few days have been pretty bad. E-mail notifications have been delayed or non-existant. It does seem much better this morning, however.

Same here. RC is the one forum that generally takes a while to load. I believe they have more traffic than their equipment can handle. They may not have enough bandwidth.

Its odd, because I wasn't having these issues a couple of weeks ago. But if they do have increased traffic, that will be a strain on their server(s). Maybe its time for an upgrade!

They did an upgrade a while back that was supposed to fix the problem. They need additional servers and / or more bandwidth. Maybe both, it's a large forum.
