SPS/Chalice Collector
Hi Guys and Gals,
I was wondering has anyone else used Miracle Mud in their systems? I have been running it for almost a year now. My LPS have been doing amazingly well running just the Mud and Purigen in the Media compartment of my sump.... Well now that I have decided to branch out into the realm of SPS, the pieces that I acquired were starting to bleach out. It mostly began at the tips and then slowly the whole piece was a sad skeleton......
I have since added a Protein Skimmer (Aqua-C EV-180 with Mag 9 pump). The skimmer is working great and the SPS is starting to come back to life. I've been testing the water and my Nitrates were too high for the SPS. The skimmer has since dramatically decreased the nitrates in the water. i've done some research and it seems LPS prefer a little "Dirtier" water.
My question is:
Has anyone had similar results? If so... Did adding a skimmer help?
Also, How come on the Youtube videos and all the Pro Miracle Mud Guys don't have this problem..... Their SPS in their tanks looks great.....
