Anybody have dive pics from Key Largo?

We're thinking of taking our cert dives in Key Largo because our shop said it's the best place in U.S. to go.

Anybody dive there and have pics or experiences you can post here?

Thanks,
Tom

It's a nice place to go for checkout dives. Warm, fairly shallow, easy diving. Tons of fish, but corals pretty beat up, IMO. Go before school is out, or just after it starts in the fall to avoid the worst of the crowds, and GO DURING THE WEEK!!!! I'm pretty sure the entire state goes to the keys every weekend.

Shop around - many places are cattle boat operations. Look for one of the smaller places. Sorry I can't remember any names, but somebody will chime in.

I've visited the Keys many times and have almost always dove with Conch Republic. I've gotten to know Gary and Brenda (the owners) well or at least as well as you can when you live across the country.

As a SCUBA Instructor myself, I wouldn't hesitate to send one of my students/friends to dive with them.

It is the best place in Florida. I go all the time. I went two weeks ago, the water was clear as glass, you could see the coral and fish from the boat . Dive Molasses Reef in Pennekamp park if you can. It's amazing.

Those are some awesome pic....thanks for sharing...what kind of camera were you using?

I live in the Florida Keys and have dove off Key Largo, Marathon, Big Pine, and Key West many times. Definitely worth checking out. Crystal clear waters, nice coral reefs and crazy fish populations.

Thanks for the great tips and great pics, Folks. I think I can talk the wife into it now with proof it's a cool place to go.

Now we just have to pass the stinkin' classes. I haven't been to school in let's say a lot of years.

I'm sure you will do just fine. Wife and I passed. And we have our 2 boys tanking thier class in March.

cant believe that...how old? looked it up online and found a few on amazon for like $75. what kind of housing do you have it in and how much was the housing? sorry for all the questions, just that is an awesome picture taking camera.

I would say it's about 5 years old. I really like it. I have the olympus housing with it. I was looking at upgrading not too long ago and I just couldn't bring myself to push the buy key. The camera takes great phoots and I've been really happy with it.

I'd recommend you avoid the edges of the keys for diving... key west and key largo are a bit warn out. I'd concentrate my diving in or around islamorada to pine key and marathon. But that's just me. Good food in key largo, and good bars in key west, however.

About another 200 photos be found at the link below. They from back in 2003 around the islamorada area. No dive boat recs... I dove from my own boat. Enjoy.
