anybody know how to fix a canon 28-70mm macro lense?

my lense is jammed and wont give me the full potential of zoom. the autofocus works like a gem, just the zoom is jammed. or do you recommend me just taking it to the shop? if it is easily fixable please let me know.

If you've got a local camera shop you could try that. You could also take it to the Canon service center in Irvine. They have a walkup counter. It'll cost at least $150

Can you not turn the zoom ring? Is there something stuck under it somehow? Can you turn the zoom ring, but nothing happens when you do?

FWIW - my price estimate was based on the fact that I just got my 24-70 back from Canon where they replaced the zoom ring assembly and re-calibrated it. It cost me $146 but that included a CPS discount.

ummm, i can turn the zoom ring, but it stops at 50mm. i do not get that 70mm i paid for...

Wierd, I've never even heard of that. Something must be blocking the element movement? Sending it in is the right answer though.
