Oh no!! I am in here working my ...... ear off, taking these phone calls from all of those dealers that don't know their .... ear from a hole in the ground. Hey, but at least I still have a job!

Yeah, I have to second that. Every since a certain member has "moved on" it had been pretty quiet around here...well unless you recieve their emails.
"The primary reason for this email is to remind all of you about the seminar this coming Saturday at 7:00pm. After the seminar we will open the store back up for a store wide sale as a way of saying thanks for spending your Saturday evening listening to me babble about aquariums. The sale event is only for those that attend the seminar!"
Hmm, this sounds familiar.

It's a sad fact that there are a LOT more saltwater enthusiasts in the area than just the folks who belong to OMAS and COMAS combined. This is a great way to reach some of those folks and promote thoughtful husbandry of our animals. Having been in the industry myself (admittedly many years ago, but I can't imagine it's changed much), an LFS can really only spend so much time with each customer explaining what may be very intense, detailed topics. It's too bad other LFSs don't do this, too, to help spread the word.

I agree, I think it's a great thing when the person has there right intentions. But if someone is is not a member of the club, gets on the clubs page and says things to get a rise out of people, then when they get kicked off the site plan a siminar on the same night the club meets with the exact same perks, it kind of makes you think. I just feel like if they were really trying to help people out, they would plan it on a night that was different than when the club meets so people would not have to choose which to go to, but could attend both. Plus, I find it hard to believe if they try and say they didn't know the meeting was on that date, seeing how they knew about the sale after the meeting. I'm really not trying to start problems, I just don't understand why it has to be so competitive instead of really being helpful to one another.

Well, without fanning the drama of conspiracy, I didn't realize it was also a club meeting night. Having attended these seminars in the past (as well as club meetings), I honestly don't think there will be much competition between this event and the club meeting. As I recall, they are attended mostly by non-OMAS members anyway...even when they aren't on the same night.

Edit: Ok, I see there is no conflict...sweet!

Has everything to do with the store schedule, the staff's personal schedule, and nothing to do with OMAS schedule. Scott's kids have been in weekend basketball tournaments and this was the only weekend that worked. Don't seem to recall OMAS having any interest in events here anyway so what does it matter? Sad that a non-member gets booted and the forum gets quiet.

I didn't see the announcement about Oddballs being open after the OMAS meeting until two days after Premier sent out their first email about their seminar. It may have been on the OMAS web site, but I don't read it every day so I may have missed it. I'll leave it at that, as I don't want to "fan the flames of conspiracy" any more either.

In the end it's an unfortunate scheduling situation, but I'd agree with Jeff, there are very few people who will want to go to both, and for those, you can always do what I'm planning, I'll probably drop by Premier for a while, try to learn a little, and then hit the OMAS meeting a few minutes late. We usually stand around and feed our faces for at least the first 30 minutes of the club meeting anyway so I won't miss too much. Problem solved... I may even drag a few non club members over from Premier if they are interested. I can't speak for Scott K., but I doubt he would care at all, the more folks in the hobby being successful and spreading the "fever" is more business for all of the stores in Tulsa.

And who said "reef tank smoothies" aren't fun!!!:)

Can't wait to slurp down one of those wonderful gray/brown smoothies myself. I hear they are high in protein and low in fat! Or did I read that "make your own reef tank food" the wrong way. Oh it's making food for you tank, not using your tank for food. I was hoping to have a couple zoa-shakes, and maybe some beer batter fried leather coral tenders...
