My wrasse is screwed up! He keeps doing the same routine over and over again! He swims to one side of the tank, then swims downstream around one heater, behind the other, then around the filter. Then he always swims to the back of the powerhead and swims between the cord and glass, then turns back again and goes to the back/ top of the tank like he's inspecting something. Then starts over again.

What a strange, strange dude!

It's called stereotypical behavior, and is a symptom of boredom/unsuitability for captive life.

Yes, unfortunately its a neurotic behavior which equates to extreme boredom. The same as the bears and lions that pace at the zoo. It is really a sad condition, and may even worsen to become self destructive (wearing the tissue from their mouth and face).

I was storeing a six line in a 10 gallon and it started doing that, sixlines are my absolute favorite fish so I got him out of there as fast as possible into my dads 120, I felt so sorry for him in ther, looked extreemly bored.

some fish just aren't suitable for aquariums- that includes species and individuals, but it may just be a small tank

I had a Barlett Anthia that would look through the front and shake it's head left to right. I didn't know what it was.

I sent my water to AWT for testing and my Potassium came back super low, low 200's (I'm running ZEO).

I changed to Coralife salt and did some large water changes and the Barlett stopped doing the head shaking.

Coincidence or not, I don't know. Just a thought.
