the guy just opened his store on saturday.... his name is hector.

its by 303 and pearl.

its probably the best place i have seen so far.

its really huge, TONS of tanks... and he generally only puts one or two fish max in each tank.

has awesome inverts...

a nice little playroom for kids all decorated with salt water fish... a giant koi pond and a sting ray pool.

trust me guys... DEFINTIALLY check this guys place out.

super clean as well.

Yes I was there on Sunday and bought a real nice Scopas Tang and a Morish Idol. Both fish eating flake food and doing great. I agree the place real nice and has some great potential. All the fish looked pretty healthly to me. I was pleased!!!!!!!

Hector was one of the knowledge base folks I relied on when going to RMS in Middleburgh. Great guy, knows his stuff. I think he was apprentancing at the Zoo for awhile. Good luck with new venture Have not been there yet but the wife has, she was very imoressed.

I am not really familiar with that area. As luck would have it, I am going to be in the general area tomorrow. Can someone help me pinpoint the location? Any landmarks?

I was there also this weekend. The place is very nice and I'm sure will develop into a top notch store. Hector is still stocking the tanks and shelves. I'm sure it's only going to get better!

I just had the opportunity to check it out today. I will have to say that is is a very nice store with a lot of potential. They had a pretty good selection of fish and the few pieces of coral which were very reasonably priced. (I ended up buying a fist-sized green favia spp. for $29.)

It is still no where near the level of Salty Critter when it comes to inverts or hard-goods. However, overall everything looked very healthy, the service was very good and prices were very reasonable. Definitely a place to check out.

Only thing I would have to critique would be their filtration. Each bank of tanks has a single coralife superskimmer which may not be sufficient for the application long-term. Hardgoods will need to expanded, but like I said, it has a lot of potential.

I had a few minutes to chat with Hector, he is quite knowledgable and really cares about the quality of his stock. Definitely worth checking out. They had a successful opening and are planning a new shipment of fish I think today.

I have known Hector thru RMS Middleburg for a couple a years and he is very savy/ aquasmart, knows his stuff, not one to tell lies and mislead. He will tell you how he feels about something straight up and has a simple, straight forward aproach to the hobby. I have held many long conversations with him and was very happy when I heard about his grand opening. Already made a few purchases from him, and I will continue to support him as much as I can. He is working to increase stocking and with more support I'm sure it will move even more quickly so lets help him (and us) out and give him all the support he needs to make his store the best it can be! I'm sure that his store will develope into a much-talked about force once he is able to really afford to properly stock. He can also order whatever you need (he tells me) and will match prices. I drive from Cleveland to go there. Go and see him!

Well, since he is at 303 and 42 I think I'll need to take a trip out there to see what he's got. Since I gotta get the wife's car in for an oil change on Saturday in Strongsville maybe I'll just make it a longer trip home.

I was just there and Hector had a nice assortment of unusual fish and corals. He is even carrying live brine shrimp that makes a nice little treats. And you really can't beat the prices for a LFS. Worth the stop...Jeff

Just got home a short while ago from visiting Hector's fine establishment and I must say that I was VERY impressed. As others have said, he's only been open a couple weeks so stock is a little thin. HOWEVER, I was very pleased at his pricing on the hard goods (very reasonable) and extremely pleased at his quality of livestock! The missus and I picked up an Atlantic Blue Tang, Sand Sifting Star, and some flake food. Almost walked away with a very cool Neon Wrasse too but thought I'd wait a bit and see what other wonderful goodies Hector would be ordering in.

And how about a few words for the store's proprietor? Hector was great! Extremely nice and helpful guy, he answered all of our questions, offered thoughts on better options, and so on. His shop is very clean and IMHO well organized. Heck, for those who have kids he even has a kids play room when you can drop them off, still keep an eye on them, and go about your perusing without the little ones getting too annoyed at how long you've been having a staring contest with that Midas Blenny (which he happened to have one of and that I was indeed staring down for some time).

The store was very easy to find as well.

I know I'll be going back again soon. His corals looked very nice as well. All in all, Tropical Aquarium gets two thumbs up!!

I went back as well the other day and walked home with a Halfblack Mimic tang. A very very cool fishl. As soon as it settles down I will try to get a good picture. Hector was great. He proved that the fish was eating flake and also made sure I wasn't looking for anything in particular as he was putting in an order and would order anything I wanted. Great store that I hope sticks around for a long time.

I just called him today and he said he had a blue hippo which I think Raven may have gotten-good for you. Let us know how it turns out. I'm sure he'll have some more. I think there may be one more if it is still there tomorrow I will pick it up...

Nope Brad....that Blue Hippo Tang is still there. At least when I left he was! I picked up the Atlantic Blue Tang, not the Hippo. I *did* look at that Blue Hippo though...but the Atlantic Blue really dazzled me and the missus.

So head to Hector's and get that Blue Hippo! I think he's getting a new shipment on Tuesday as well.

First time there. Nice store. As soon as the shelves and tanks are filled more it will be even more awesome. I picked up a Sailfin tang that is tiny (about 2") It has great coloration and was eating flake there. I got a nice pic of the fish ... Here ya go.

Met Hector too. He is a very nice guy. The little blue hippo tang was there and he said there is definitely an order of fish coming Tuesday. There were some bubble corals that were looking a bit rough. Maybe the water conditions are off a bit or they came in that way.
