This is a newer piece I only had a week or so. It seems a little washed but most do seem washed when I put them in my tank. It usually takes a couple weeks before they get good coloring. It was shipped from CA to here in CT so I guess it could be stress related but very strange. The tissue at the tip seems to have detached from the skeleton but is still intact. It blew up like a balloon and that part was swaying with the flow. I cut that branch off so hopefully the frag heals. Unfortunately as much as I know that piece I cut should have been removed from the tank, it fell into the rock work and I cannot get it out.

Here is what it looked like last night, when I moved it up there. For those that will ask about params, they are fine btw, and spot on to the water the shipper keeps, alk 8.4 dkh. I have well over 40 acros and a bunch of other sps.

I've heard some people suggest that tissue "bubbling" might be due to Mg getting out of line. Have you tested it lately. Otherwise, I have no ideas.

I had some "blistering" happen to a few of my SPs before. It usually isnt an issue in the long rung, but on such a small frag I'm not sure.

go to the advanced search and type in "blistering". you should find some answers as to what may have caused it.

double check cal,alk or mags. Some of my sps did that and I double check at the LFS and found that my alk was on the low side.Fixed it and it went back to normal after a few weeks

I check alk daily & dose 2 part that keeps everything on line. I haven't tested mg lately but its never fall under 1200 & never an issue with ca. the 2 part I use I dose each part alternating every other hour& it has always kept all that balanced.

Like I said though I only had this frag since Thursday, so I'd assume this was caused by the trip from CA to CT. Or something water quality related previous to that. I'll do some testing all the same.

Thanks for the replies guys. I never heard the term blistering so I'll be doing some research. Thanks.

Actually those that have had blistering... Will that part come back on its own or should it be cut off?

The coral shouldn't lose any flesh it should just go back down.

Happened to my a.horrida colony from live aquaria. Blisters appeared on the second day after shipping. Colony died and all frags died.

The rest looked fine after cutting that blistered branch. Then today all the flesh peeled off the remaining piece.

I'm gonna maintain that it was shipping stress. As I said, over 40 other acros & they are all fine.

I have seen this happen several times and they have always died on me. I think the coral fills up with polutants in the shipping bag and the dies. I do t have anything scientific about this only from my experiancess.
