I just got back from trading my spawning pair of occ clowns for these guys. They went right into the RBTA as soon as they seen it and they are a little different then the average clown.

Can't say I've seen that color variant of Ocellaris before, but I like it!!!

Thanks. He called them storm troopers because of the white helmet on the head. I don't care about names but I thought they looked different so why not trade them.

agreed...no matter what their "designer name" is, I just think they're very cool (and different) looking with the helmet head...nice pick up MJB :)

I agree with EC. Awesome fish!! The trooper helmets are awesome!!profanity removed

Sorry about that.

Thanks guys.

They are about 2" and the RBTA is still not settled in yet but it was about 12" when I seen it in the tank before I bought it.

I'm not sure where you can buy them and this is the first pair I've seen. I got them from a guy who wanted to breed them but they are still too young so he traded me for some baby makers.

If they're about two inches, they're really close to breeding age, if not there now. I'd start shoveling food to them, and I bet they'll be spawning in no time.

I'm in love with those clowns! :strooper: do you know if they sell them to individuals or are they just suppliers to stores?

Talk to the owner of your LFS. SA is quickly becoming the largest supplier of captive bred clowns out there. If they aren't already. Your LFS should be able to order you a pair with no problem. They're not that expensive either.

C-quest had this variant too. I bought a pair from them, directly. They did not however have the dark tops. I also have a pair of fancy whites from sa but they don't look like these either.

Those are some good-looking clowns. Clear markings and robust conformation, and with nicely shaped heads, too. So often it seems like the designer clownfish lose conformation as their colors and patterns become more and more specialized, but these two look perfect.

Those are beautiful don't ever take your hands off those they are hard to find ( well at least in Orlando)

- Current tank info: 22 gallon, with mated pair onyx percula clownfish

I'm very interested in these clowns, does anybody know if they retain that pattern? I'm new to "designer" clowns, I've only ever had regular, but I like the look of these a lot. And do all of them get dark at the top like that?

Sweet trade btw, I would have done it in a heartbeat! Good luck with them!

i had a pair od clowns just like this sold them before i went to school... When i Originally got them they had the normal orange color pattern.. as the matured they developed the dark top fading to orange.. amazing fish!

SA doesn't sell to the public I believe. Just ask your store to order them you should be able to get them for 60-100$ per depending on how much your store sells them for. They are not really hard to find its just one of their newest designer clowns available give them time and everyone will be able to get them.

They should keep their pattern from what ive seen but I havent seen them long long term yet.

I really liked these because they were different but they both look uniform as the pattern goes. They have even stripes on both sides and no misbars so it was a plus.
