Anyone ever...

I believe someone on here has one, they will probably post if they see this, but i wouldn't count on it with the title you have.

They are just barely a host anemone. Clarkii clowns are the only ones known to host them in the wild. In most of the wild pics I have seen they are without clownfish but usually have commensal shrimp or crabs.
They are VERY sticky. I was told that divers don't like to collect them because their sting is very irritating and even painful.
I have seen some that are absolutely beautiful, with contrasting middle and edge colors.

I have 2 of them & I can say from experiance the sting does not penatrate the skin. It feals sticky like touching a piece of tape. My clowns have not hosted in them but my porcline crab now lives on one of them.

Yeah if he is talking about the smaller ones those might have a bit of kick to their sting. Those also reproduce pretty fast from what i hear. I have had mine for almost two years now & it has not split even though I feed it regularly.

fwiw: Pizza Anemones, C. adhaesivum, seem to behave quite differently from the above depicted S. tapetum. They definitely grow larger and area quite a bit stickier. Mine was quite the killer for the few years I was able to maintain it. My Clarks chose to leave it alone, but they had numerous BTAs to choose from. The edge of the anemone is quite distinctive. Forgive me for a terrible picture of this specimen approx 6" in diameter:

The specimens folks have been calling the mini carpets seem to divide quite frequently. I have yet to find a confirmed division of the larger S. tapetum you and I both keep:
