Anyone feed birds in the winter?

The only bird I HAVE chased off this winter was a great blue eyeing my koi, the rascal. Fortunately I have a winter cover, and will install a Scarecrow watersquirter for the spring, because I'll bet he remembers where they are!

Sk8r I wanted to share with you my heron story typed it all out and guess what
(lost my connection!) uggghhh Hate having a wireless card sometimes :(
Anyhow Ill share the story sometime soon (its took me forever to type it out) lol
Sorry ,Anyhow the I had no luck with the squirter!

Anyone want the woodpeckers from my neighborhood? They've done a good bit of damage to my house. If I ever catch one of those buggers I'm going to break it's neck and leave it out as an example for all the other woodpeckers...

Ill take him lol

I put up a new feeding station last week and it's already attracting lots of feathered friends. We keep a field guide and binocs in the kitchen and mark the pages every time a new species visits.

Watching this is just as relaxing as watching an aquarium, but without the headaches!

Scott, the birds must love your feeding stations. It reminds me of the "China Buffet" in Henrietta. I have a heater bird bath (spa) that birds seem to enjoy.

China buffet is right! I'm offering several different seed types and have two new species this year that have never come to my feeders before. I'd also like to do some sort of heated frost free bird bath back there too. Water actually attracts lots more birds than feeders.

Great thread.
A few months ago I got a huge birdhouse that was dammaged by ice. From what I was told purple martins take to this readily, but I dont know much about birds. The design is metal -tin,circular and tiers like a cake stack.Trying to restore it and get it up by early spring ,still in pieces at the moment nice small winter project that hopefully I can fix.

Wifes had a couple wild pairs of ducks that were interesting to watch.Pair of mallards and pair of N. american woodducks.Very colorful bird that got along well.Coyotes took a pair of each one night,So weve got 1 mallard and 1 woodduck now.Built some houses so hoping they stay for the winter.
