Anyone have a flaming prawn goby?

Just wanted to know if anybody out there has experience in keeping this fish. I'd really like to get one but before I do I'd like to get some opinions and answers to some of my questions.

I'd like to keep it in a 12gal nano, with other peaceful gobies and sexy shrimp.....would this be possible?

Is it really a prawn/shrimp type goby? If so what type of pistol shrimp or prawn does it pair up with? I'd like to pair it with a randall's pistol if does.

Those are so awesome!

It will share its sand bed burrow with a Pistol Shrimp of the Alpheus genus.

I think it would look cool with the Randalli Pistol Shrimp. I just got one with my Yasha Hashe goby the other day. They look like this:

I saw your reply in the Pets Inc Thread. That's such a sweet deal. My friend Mike got the same thing you did about a month ago. I really wanted it but I feared my 6 line wrasse with a huge ego would've killed them. So I opted for a tougher fish, a geometric pygmy hawk. Guess what? He lasted one day, my 6 line killed him. I would've taken him out but my wrasse did the damage while I was at work. I'm still pretty upset about that.

Yeah I was very tempted to get a Mystery Wrasse (Pets Inc had 3 of them) but they have a similar temperment to the Sixline.

They still had one available with a Randall Pistol shrimp when I bought this one on Tuesday.

Discordipinna griessingeri known as the Spikefin goby and they do not live with pistol shrimp.

I have thought about setting up a nano to keep one. I am afraid if I put one in my 210 I would not see it enough.

Even in samller tanks they are rather shy and avoid bright light. I dont see mine very often and would for sure nit suggest to place them in a bigger tank.

I agree with Dave the comment of Mike regading Alpheus is totally wrong as they are no partner gobies.

Can you give us more information or point us in the direction where we can get more info about these beautiful fish. I would be interested in them in a 40 g seahorse tank, if that is possible.

They are beautiful fish.

They are small (1" or less),reportedly short lived, cryptic, and are found in a pretty large area in nature. Not a whole lot of info written about them but you you can do search on the web and it will yield you some information as wall as asking Peter S. as he has had some in his care for a while.

I can't add much to what Dave already said. As the two fish are so cryptic I could hardly observe them - and they where in a small goby (Eviota and Trimma only) tank! For example I have never observed any feeding, or interaction between the fish. Sometimes I did not see them for weeks and currently I am not even sure they are still there!

Takeing the crpytic living and the price into account this is a fish I can not really recommend if oyu are not as nuts about fish as Dave and me

I have seen them online with their outrageous price tags. I did see them come into a local shop once..they sold out very quick, at $40. They were extremely tiny...cool little fish.

I would go with what Peter says as I got my information from an Online vendor.
