King Aquarium never posts on craigslist, my bet is LGF is behind all that, they're so low...i wish they saw this thread.

Yeah. I had another person come over and tell me they had the same problem. I'm not sure who's doing it so I'm not going to make accusations but in the end it's everyone who suffers. The hobbyists, those getting flagged and even the flagger because it prevents the growth of the hobby and their potential customers.

I have been following this thread for a while and have to interject some thoughts.
#1 You realize that if you do not want to promote this particular business, talking about it makes people curious and they end up stippong by and purchasing from these people. And it seems that many of you would not like that to happen. I stopped by because I had to take a look and personally I am not surprised that the city has not shut them down. Can you say ADA? Fire Hazard? And with the status of their livestock SPCA?
#2 Any legit business who is serious about providing quality products WILL NOT advertise of CL! Sorry that is just my opinion but if an honest to goodness business wants to advertise they find applicable ways of getting the word out.
So on that note ..... look for my add on CL and BA-Classifieds and I will have to start carrying dying coral and ich covered fish just so my business can get some air time here on RC! Ah, almost forgot, we no longer use aquariums, everything is pre-bagged and floating in buckets till someone wants to buy them.
If you believe that last paragraph, well you get the point.

..I know the manager Tony personally, who ran the store and had bough this to his attention.
Here is what he said;
They did get shipment in when their system was not ready.
Most of their staff is not knowledgeable in salwater.
Lots of their fish got ich. and die
but here is what they are doing to get better;
hire a saltwater expert who work at monterey aquarium to come in on the weekend to help out. (named Lee)
stop letting customer bag fish and coral.
import top knoch equipment from Germany to better their coral tank. put a large sum at the bottom of these coral tank to make sure that their are enough filtration.
Use reverse omosis for water
Stop all saltwater and coral shipment for two week so that all the tank can be upgrade.
Build a quaratine tank for sick fish.
Here is what they accomplist so far;
reverse omosis water,
one roll of the 50 gallon tanks had been upgrade with better filtration and skimmer.
Import huge skimmer and nitrate remover and calcium reactor for the corals tanks. get the right lighting for these tank.
in progress;
two large sump are getting install under the four coral tanks.
upgrade the remainging roll of tank filter and sump.
put in a quarantine tank for sick fish.
put in huge tanks so that water can be brough in .
In regard to why they float the fish, Tony said that fish are import from oversea, and most of the time, they are sedated for shipment so that fish will not stress and die due to air pressure.
When receive, fish must be change 50% of the water and pump pure oxygen into the bag, then float.
that why we saw many float fish in the tank. and when they don't make it, even with the pure oxygen, people panic and think that LGF don't treat the fish right.
I know Tony for a long time and here is the reason why they sell cheap to the public.
The backing of this store is a couple of dot com guy who like fish and coral as a hobby and believe that if run right, saltwater and coral should be more affordable. So they join venture and gave it a try. They are not in it for the money but more for the fun .
They did make a mistake by trying too much in the begining.
But they had settle down and are improving.
and their staff are reading up on saltwater plus hire pro .
So let hope this place get it right, the least will happen is that it make it more competitive for other store to drop their price so that people like me and you can benefit.

they arent in it for the money. can sell cheap because they are dot commers. give me a break. want to know the real reason why they can sell cheap... no staff + cheap equipment = lower prices.
if they really were in it for the fun they would be out on the floor greeting/helping customers...bagging livestock for customers. but nope..they are behind that counter watching hard earned money being exchanged for sick livestock. real fun...
