Anyone keeping Darth Mauls successfully

Just like St.ValDayMassacres, and other similiar types of polyps... I've tried 2-3 times with these guys..

Grow them from 1-2 polyps to over a dozen or a mini colony then suddenly poof gone overnight ( little exageration ) but I hope you get my point. Some do have great sucess. I've already have tried twice with the DM's. 3 times with SVD's.

define the meaning of the word successfully

sparing any timeline or growth details.....

I have had DM's at 4 different times, SVM's once.

I currently have none of either

Mine are doing ok. Got a frag of about 3 in Jan/Feb and now I have about 7-8. This is by no means a long term test though.

Successfully means buy em, grow em, sell em. 650-is350 and flyyguy u guys r some of the best growers so now i'm scared to try. flyguy- i hope u sold urs instead of losing them. Jefa keep up the good work. Are urs in high or low light/flow????

didnt sell or trade mine.

I tortured and killed them like most of the rest of the animals I have lost in this hobby

Is this the polyp in question? I'm not one for names

I am with you seaduck, no matter what IS350 says, if he and Flyyguy can't grow them, I ain't even tryin. They are scratched off my to buy list.

I have this hunch.......

It is not my original idea, but something I read soemwhere and I havent seen anyone else actually do it. Within the next year i will set up something to prove if there is possibly any merit or not to it.

I want to set up a cooler reef for a handful of different polyps that I have failed to figure out/keep for any long periods of time

not coldwater by any means, but 72-75, instead of the 79-82 I keep my reefs at currently

...or they might just be annuals. I've seen rocks with wild DM's and they seem to grow in small bunches, with the bunches spread out.

Ive never seen the word "annuals" used in concern to animals before. I thought that was just a plant thing.

although, I could have used bi annual to possibly accurately decribe the times my last DM's were actually open before they were truly gone

nikon187, i do believe that ur pic is of the polys in question. How long have u had urs?
flyyguy, ur idea is definately worth a try. It's a trail and error scenero. It's sad that we have to lose some before we fiqure out what it takes to keep them successfully in captivity. I hope that it is for the best for them and us in the long run.
