I've had him for about three years maybe longer and he just looks rough all of a sudden. . No one ever picks on him. I just hate to see it.

Mine are older than 4 :-) solid diet of scallops. Sorry about yours, maybe a second selcon supplemented target feedings to try and perk it up?

What species of cardinal are we talking. My Bangaii is five now and still looks pretty good so far. I also feed scallops and I feed them 3 to 4 times a day.

Bangaii but was not "new" when I got him. I'm thinking he got to close to a power head . Tail and streamers damaged but still eats fine

Wow - you feed 3-4 per day??? I feed my tank every other day and still have too many nutrients. Should I be feeding more often?

It's a battle at times. I have a really big skimmer, dose vinegar and do a lot of small water changes. Using a turkey bastor on the rocks often helps too. A fat fish is a healthy fish, also some of the not completely reef safe fish would eat my corals if I didnt feed them often.

Those fish are beast I had one that about 3 weeks ago ate a glob of super glue that accedentaly dripped into the tank. I reached in to grab it but before I could get to it he said nom nom. Any way make a long story short after not seeing him for the last 4 days I assumed he bit the bucket. Then this morning he comes popping out the get some morning snacks. Sorry to hear about yours but I am sure he will come around.

I've got a single Bangaii that's now going on 6 years old. I started with 6 and over time they've just dwindled down. This one went through a "ragged" stage about 2 years ago and just as easily it went away. Maybe it was a mid-life crisis or something LOL!

I feed my tank a very small meal every night (more of a snack) and a full meal every 2-3 days.
