Anyone know the history of this hybrid?

Just curious why they hybridized a resplendant angel with a regular cherub? How did liveaquaria get a resplendent in the first place and why couldn't/didn't get a second one?

is this a serious question? this is from a batch of fish from frank at RCT. He bred them and sold them to QM and LADD. What makes this fish so cool is that it would never exist in the wild. they are from opposite sides of the earth. pretty cool, although some dont care for the unique shape of the head

Yes this is a serious question and not meant to offend anyone. I realize that this fish would never exist in nature given the resplendant's extremely isolated distribution. I personally would much rather have a pure strain respendant and didn't understand the appeal and price justification other than it is fairly reminiscent of a true respendant.

Thank you for the background. I don't know Frank. How was he able to obtain a respendant? Was he unable to get a pair of them or is the hybrid more desirable and I am missing something?

Ah. Ok, so basically the fish are a project to produce resplendent "look a likes" for lack of a better term due to the rarity of the replendent angelfish in the hobby, and in turn help maintain wild populations.
