I just had a surge protector catch fire..at my fish tank..only thing i can really run is a canister pump..temperarly wired to work...can anyone buy my setup or something..i really dont know what to do..i dont have thousands in it..sad setup really...

Well i cut up a couple ext cords and spliced them to the filters so they have some water flow...used a net and got most of the soot out...hopefully they will be ok...just have to buy filters,maxi jets,heater
that is if i dont sell it...I have a 29 gal tank i could put under but i have no clue on how to make it work as a filter like you all do...I juts stumbled into this saltwater stuff

suggest getting a metal surge protector they are made better than the plastic ones

Don't sweat the small stuff, if that is the worst thing that has happened to you in the past year then you are lucky. Go out and get a new surge protector ( spend more than $5.00 on it) a good one and just puck up where you left off the day before it happened. No worries mate don't abandoned the ship over a surge protector.

Thanks Bmr,and to the others that repied..but I need more than a surge protector now...the fire took out all the cords of my maxi jets,heater,and both filters i was running...Dont think i can afford to buy all that again
Esp with having to buy carpet,replace the drywall,and paint.
Guess ill see how long they last:hmm4:

I have a maxi-jet and heater that you can have. What type of filter do you have. I have a brand new wet/dry filter of some sort at home that I have never used. I was going to set up a hospital tank but I figure if you need it I will give it to you for a song and dance,lol. Besides I could never catch a fish in my tank anyhow. let me know what you need

I had a Filstar xp3 canister filter

The more i read the sump is a better way...i even have a 29gal tank i can use..but have no idea on what to do. I basically went from fresh to salt using all my fresh water equipment.
