Just wondering, if anyone has there max. clam since a baby, and how big is it now. My baby 1.5inch max has been in my tank for almost a year and hasn't shown much growth. Not even 2 inches yet. How fast do these babies grow?

bowling dt every 2-4days.

I purchased two that were between 1.5 - 2 inches when I first purchased them and about a year and a half later are now a little over 4 inches!

when I first received them, I fed them a lot of phyto and kept the under 250 watt hqi's. Now I don't use phyto, but they still grow pretty well.

I raised a couple from 1" to about 3.5" now. I bowl fed them every other day or so with DTs and then home grown phyto. They started to grow faster (about 3/8" per month, compared to 1/16) when I left them in the bowl all the time instead of placing them in/out to feed. They seemed to like attaching better.

FWIW - it was a total PITA and I will not likely do it again. 3" clams are fine with me.

I got 4 of mine around 1". They all attached to rock right away except one. So I feed the whole tank phyto & they are all growing very well. They are moving past 2" now, with exception to the one that never attached. He seems to like the sand. 2 were Gold maximas. One turned blue/teal before he started to grow fast, the other is gold & purple now. He is the one that never attached. Feeding the whole tank phyto has resulted in a large growth in the cluster duster population, as well as noticible mysid shrimp population growth as well. All nutrients are still undetecable. It doesn't get much easier then a bit of phyto every other night!

How big has the max. that didn't attach grown? I think I have the same problem with mine, which has almost no growth.

The max. that didn't attach has still not attached, but is changing color. It has grown at most 1/4since I got it, it has approx 1/16" of white shell growth on it. It's mantle has been been filling in new colors, as well as seemingly getting thicker. It was in a dealer tank with NO flo. so I think it was dieing when I got it. It may be recovering slower then some of the others that were in better shape when I got them.

I picked up a baby max last december still alive and doing well....cant remember the actual size but it has grown, picked up an infant max nearly fetus sized lol, almost three months ago has grown some, but i never have put tape measure on my clams so its difficult for me to gage clam growth...

I do feed the tiny one dts by the bowl technique, its not so bad now feeding my wifes sun coral now thats a pita.....
