Is there anyone running their DT in an unheated basement like me?

Heating is a pain in peak winter!

Upgrading from 75g to 120g.... if the heating were cheaper I'd have a 180g....[emoji849]

Not unless I were living in Southern California again. I am in northern Nevada and if my heater isn't up to snuff my Fluval EVO XII will drop 3 degrees F this time of year overnight.

I run my display tanks in my bedroom... I have a 135g discus planted tank 2 feet from my bed so if i lay on my back the tank is in front of me. And my 60g reef tank is to the left of me in place where a nightstand would be.

Because the discus tsnk is set to 82-84f and its on the upper level it gets hotter then balls in my room in the summer and humid.

Id never put ny tsnk in a basement unless it was like 200g+. Id rather be in bed and watch my fish

Are you running any under tank heat?

Nope, it's a new build..... I'd love a 180g... but due to heating costs I'm thinking 120g.

I had a 75g for 8 years.... it crashed [emoji37]

You mean there's a way to heat it at a low cost?

Wish i could heat DT using natural gas like my water heater[emoji23][emoji23]

I have my DT 150 gallon in my basement with one 300 watt heater. I live in Long Island New York so winter temperatures get down to single digits sometimes.

My display is in my living room but the sump, frag tank and fuge is in my garage on the other side of the wall. I'm in the Midwest so I struggle keeping the system warm during the winter. I generally run a heater in the garage along with 750 watts of heaters in the sump to keep it at 78

How ! Is your basement heated? Do you insulate the tank with foam sheets? How big was your sump ?

I ran 100g with 600w heater and it was 75f in peak winter.

Pls share...i might go for 150g.... instead of 120g next.

Thx
