Was wondering if anyone was successfull at keeping multiple large angels in the same tank? What is the key to your success?

My current stock list:

5inch Blue Face
5inch Passer
6inch Blue

Want to add:
Imperator
Gold Flake

Weren't you having problems with the three you have now? I'd say three is max for a 180, I'd wait until the upgrade. Once that happens, you can introduce the 4 or 5 at the same time, or best order suiting for your needs (smallest, least aggressive forth). Having plenty of liverock with multiple caves and hiding places will help. Each fish needs to defend its own territory. Also with emperors, they tend to need to be the boss of the tank, make sure he doesn't get picked on. Maybe try the eggcrate trick when you introduce them.

I agree, wait until you upgrade, until then the passar and the blue are trouble with any new fish. It can be done, in the past I've kept a passar, cortez. queen and rock beauty together, and now I have a trio of rock beauty with a bandit and several pygmy angels, but you need to add them smallest and least agressive to most agressive to give yourself the best chance at success.

Wow! a trio of rock beauties!? I'd love to see that! Have any pics?

In the past I had a queen, emperor and gray. I have a passer now, and I don't think any other angel could survive him, he's a beast. Pushes my 32" brazilian dragon moray around. I'm hoping to try a clown trigger and sohal tang with him once I upgrade.

I don't have pics of that trio, I'm tempararily in CA and they are in FL where I live permanently. When I get back I'll take some and post them. They were all collected small and put in together, one grew really fast and now has trailers on his dorsal and tail, the other 2 are about 1/2 his size (females) and they split the tank, not evenly, one has about 1/3rd and the other the rest. The male swims around and doesn't bother either. I got the idea when diving and I always saw them in groups so I thought if I got them small enough and they grew up together they should be like my pygmies (which I keep in colonies). So far it has worked really well.
