Anyone tried the new Tunze 6301?

I am really tired of fooling with my closed loops. Pulling off a hammerhead even once a year is a huge hassle and they are energy hogs.

So I am looking for something simpler and then I see the new Tunze Stream 6301.

A whopping 7000gph plus. and a whopping price tag of $800 plus.

Anyone tried this pump yet? I am seriously considering adding one for my 550 sps tank.

So I spoke with Roger at Tunze USA and it turns out that the 6301 has larger slots on the intake housing and generates so much flow that small fish will get sucked in.

So I am probably going to go with 6201's instead or my cardinals, and rainford's gobies will end up coral food eventually.

I am going to run 4 6301 in my 480g with a bunch of small fish. I used to mod my 6201 just like the 6301 without any problem. The pump only sucking in fish if the fish is dying or dead....

Steve,

Any reason you chose 4 of them? Hell why not 6 or 8? (just kidding)

Seriously though, do you have some sort of pattern worked out on how you plant to place and run these?

I will have them at 4 corners facing each other , controller set on interval II... I can create circular motion in my tank with the 4 pumps not to mention is also have 4 waveboxes... so i guess i answer your question. I do have 8 tunze streams :D

Ok,

I want to see a schematic of how you plan this. I think I'll call it the Jarhead tsunami from now on.
JHT for short.

You can check out my build thread "Steve's 480g upgrade". It is not the best because it has been over ran by T-Bone but i have picture and video of my ext waveboxes in action.

Yes sir, i have 4 wave box pumps and 4 Tunze 6301, my tank is custom build with ext waveboxes.

Holy crap! What is that, 100x turnover? Wow.

Not really 100X turnover. the stream produce approx 30K, 2K for the return i am not sure about the wavebox...

You're right, I was assuming full bore :) The 6301s at full bore is about 31,700gph. Then the waveboxes use the 6200s which would be 21,132 gph at full bore. So it would be 52,832gph at full bore plus your 2000 gph making that 54,832gph...but again I'm sure that you have some pattern and that the waveboxes are not at full bore (hence the wave :) ) But still that is a lot of flow man. That's pretty nice...maybe not 100x turnover, but a lot :)
