Anyone try AuraLed?

I just talked with Rob at Auraled, (6:15 pm Arizona time) so it has been about 5 hours since I called him and left my first message, we discussed my 90 gallon bowfront (48 X 18 X 24) and I expect a quote from him within a day or so, he is telling me build out is about 5 days..... we talked at length about what i wanted, what he thought would work well for me, and answered any question I had - and his answers satisfied me..... He loves to talk aquariums....

He gave a pretty good idea of cost.... so, waiting on drawings and a quote

Just tried calling Rob again 10:08pm North Carolina time a mere hour after you called him and nothing wont answer my call.....soooo why would he answer your phone call but not mine? I'm not saying anything bad I'm just curious as to why he wont answer my call even though I've already paid for my fixture?

I have been talking to the manufacturer of the leds for the last 2 weeks I think I might start selling them the price is good but you have to order in large numbers well see.. They sent me the same info that's on his website but I do like the leds on my tank.
but his service I.E not answering emails sucks I sent him 3 or 4 different ones and only got 1 replay but still didn't get my answers I needed but i did get what i ordered with in a week

In there info they sent me they say 12v dc power (constant voltage) would 7v hurt them?

Just a little more update from me. He called me back last night at 8:40 east coast time. He is in Norfolk I am in Manassas VA. Talked for 12 minutes according to my cell log. Mine will be ready he told me beginning of the week and he wanted to let me know his sign company is doing a lot of work in North Richmond next week. Told me he would let me know so he can take my hood on one of the trucks so I can meet them thereto get it and save a hour off my ride each way. Seemed very nice to me. I personally have not had any problem getting him by phone or email. If I call or email during the day I am getting return calls/emails after 7:00 pm eastern time probably because he is working during the day. I am not poo pooing any one who says they are having a hard time getting in touch with him I am just relaying my experience so far.:dance::dance:

well 10 pm is a little late to be calling any business person after they have worked a 14 hour day, i wouldnt answer either... but he definitely should return your call, that is very perplexing, are you sure your money cleared and that he has it....? (has it posted to your account or credit - or however you paid it - just a thought)

The reason I called so late is because someone earlier posted that they had talked to him at 6:15pm Arizona time which is 3hrs behind us here on the east coast that would have meant they talked to Rob at 9:15pm EAST COAST TIME probably talked for about 20-30mins knowing how Rob likes to talk so me calling at 10pm wouldnt have been too much after he hung up the phone with the guy from Arizona. So i was like hey maybe he answers at night because thats the only time he has time to answer.....but wait a minute what about all those voicemails I have been leaving him to get in contact with me about my order ASAP? Why hasnt he returned those calls?

This is the last email I have gotten from Rob and it was 8days ago...

And yes I am sure that my money cleared I paid via Paypal I received a conformation email stating my money was sent AND the biggest one the $275 was taken out of my bank account...I know how to check stuff on my end before posting bad about other people...again I am hoping it works out i'm not bashing Rob because like i said he was a great guy to talk to when I did talk to him...I just wish he would get in contact with me!

Welp I had to go with my gut instinct here and had to cancel my order with AuraLED. I gave him time to get in contact with me but to no avail. This is just my personal experience...like i mentioned in previous post in this thread when i spoke to Robert he was a great guy but when he got my money the communication stopped. Soooo that is my experience hope everybody elses' experience go better than mine has.

IF FOR SOME REASON MY FIXTURE DOES SHOW UP AND MY MONEY HAS ALREADY BEEN REFUNDED ROBERT WILL GET THE FIXTURE BACK!!! <<< THAT STATEMENT INCASE ROBERT IS READING THIS THREAD!!!

I have had my fixture for a little over 2 months now and am dissapointed by it so far. In the last 2 months 1 of my anemones is about dead and the other one is withering away. All of my button polyps have closed up and died and my hammer branch had to be moved to the very top of the tank to keep alive. The only thing this light is good for is a fish only tank. The only coral I have that is doing ok in the tank are my mushrooms (and we all know they don't need much light to survive). So in my opinion stay away from these lights. Spend the extra money and get a diy cree setup or ecoray.

how large was your tank, what did he build out for you... did it seem bright ?
how far from the water is your unit?

....Anyone else.....had one for a while?

Awesome!!

Here you go Bubba. Just copy and past the "IMG Code" from Photobucket into your replies. You definitely need more liverock.

Thanx. I am pleased with the brightness of the lights. Still working on the single color shots. The battery on my camera died and I cant find the charger. When I find it I will post the shots. Also, I am picking up 150 more pounds of live rock right now. Just wanted to check the thread before I left.

Just wanted to repost the colors again. My mother cleaned them up quite a bit and made them much better.

I would not blame the lights for your loss of animals, when you only set this tank up 2 months ago. You have to let the tank cycle, or you will have casualties. Sorry you lost some animals.

good point.... I that much water it would take a good 60 days for the ammonia to cycle and for the proper bacteria to grow in the porosity of those rocks and sand... my experience anyway..(on my 18th year with reef tanks) - however anything does make one wonder

after everything I read here, I'm soooo glad I was patient and DIY'd 3 x cree LED pendants for my 180. I'm at 25% intensity and all my corals are responding amazingly.

good luck to everyone that has one or plans on purchasing one of these.

The tank was not the problem. My parameters where always good. I had the tank running for over a month before I got these lights. And the anemones where the last things to go in there. I had them in my other tank that I broke down and added to my 220. It has to be the lights. Even my LFS said it was the lights because of the lack of wattage. My LFS says it doesn't matter what type of light you have( led, halide, t5, pc) if you want to keep a reef you need at least 3 watts per gallon. And he gets his info from going to shows and meetings where there are marine biologists. I should have done more research before jumping in to buy a cheap led setup. That's what happens when you go down the cheap path.

What type of lights did you have in your other tank? It is very possible that with the change in lighting, and the new tank syndrome, that is why you lost your animals. Animals still have to adapt to lighting, like they do to water parameters.

3 months is still a very gray area with such a large tank.

I would look for another LFS. LEDs are very different than other lighting in reference to wattage. The reef inhabitants can adapt, but sometimes they don't. How do you explain those that have gone overboard with their setup, and lose animals? Then there are those that do not have a skimmer, and does not do water changes for over 1.5 years, and it is doing great? And the best part is, they top off their tank with tap water!! If you don't believe me, I can provide pics or introduce you to them.

Just wanted to give people an update on my experience....I asked for a refund of my money that I paid for my fixture and Robert didnt argue with me at all. I was promptly provided my refund. I just wish I would have been able to get the lights. Communication is key for a small business IMO.
