anyone try the Current LED or AquaticLife Edge LEDs?

I have a 4ft tank (75g) and have had 4 T-5 bulbs since the beginning of it. Lately I have been interested in adding some LED to test those waters. I just replaced the T5 bulbs, and I am not looking to replace those, its a DIY kit so just caps and reflectors I move around to make room for a center strip of LEDs.

I am looking to add a full spectrum strip down the center, I think the Current Orbit Marine look cool with the remote and all, but its only blue/white LEDs. The AquaticLife Edge is similar but has red bulbs as well. I am not looking for a $1k+ setup, but figured I would ask if anyone local has tried either. Reading around different reviews, I can't seem to find a definitive answer other than based on my symptoms I probably have a brain tumor (stay away from WebMD!)

There is the new current marine pro fixture but it is considerably more expensive. Or you could do a buildmyled in their 14k or 20k configuration.

I will have 3 like new kessil a350w's for sell this coming week $200ea price is below wholesale and have been used around 6 months. Way better option than the led's you listed.

I have a current over my little rimless that is 32 inches long. I've tried maxspect, I have the A.I. nano LEDs and surprisingly I've come back to the current fixture. Yes, by what's been said over and over, there are other ' Superior' and great brands. But given that each has its pros and cons, I've really come to appreciate/ love this fixture. Which is why the maxspect is for sale, and so will the AI. The current is here to stay for me.

Something to think about when adding these led...

What are you trying to achieve?
These are decent fixtures for shallow tank (18" max) imo, probably wont do much for the size tank you have. These will just be supplement lighting and you probably wont notice a big difference.

If your just looking to add supplemental color, for a little more, you can go with the ecoxotic magenta/actinic panorama pros. I've had success in several 90gal mixed reef with just these fixtures. they are not super fancy fixtures, but bang for your buck leds.

as mentioned, current marine pro fixture would be similar to the ecoxotic (price and lighting output)

Keep in mind, remotes are cool, but you wont be using it after a few weeks :)

I have the edge 24" strip that I used for about 6 weeks and they are bright.
And programable with ramp up timer.
I was wasn't really getting any growth out of the couple of Sps I had.
They were alive and healthy though.
On the other hand my LPS were doing great (6 softball size LPS).
Like mentioned It all depends on what you want to achieve.
Since I got some higher end lights I would part with these at decent price.
Pm if interested.

What are you trying to achieve? GOOD QUESTION, I have been pondering that for a few days now.
I am not ready to go full LED, I also just bought new T5 bulbs for my setup so I am good for bit. I do miss the shimmer of past mH setups, and I think that is what I am really after. My T5 setup is 2x 48" bulbs, and 2 x 36" bulbs, I was originally thinking about what would be the best option to install right down the middle of the bulbs to add shimmer, and nice color.
I recently stopped by another reefers place and I believe he had the ReefBrights LEDs, and I was impressed with the color. Then again that is also around $500 and probably a stand alone option.
I think my tank is only about 20" deep, and I dont expect a ton of extra PAR or light intensity, just looking for some pop! I am ok with more blue, so the Kessils that you (muzzlefuzz) mentioned could fit the bill. The only drawback I see is that is a round bulb, and I was thinking a strip may work better. I'll take a look at my DIY T5 setup this weekend, see if it could be a good fit, how high does it need to be off the water for 1 Kessil to give at least some light spread? (I know it wont reach end to end)

Thanks for all the replies! Its helpful discussing since reviews can really go one way or another.

IMO kessils give just as good of shimmery as a metal halide. They are 2nd to none when it comes to that. What size is your tank? The kessils I've got for sale will light up over 100 gallon tank spread is 2'x2' and I've got 3 so that a 6' tank, and really all the lighting you'd need as they provide great color, growth and shimmer all in one small footprint. Let me know if you're going to be interested as I believe a fellow reefer want to purchase 2 of then tomorrow and is a way better deal if you buy all 3 at one. Save a bit of coin
