Anyone using 9005 collection cup on 9010?

My 9010's neck gets disgusting, thick and slimy, but not too much makes it into the collection cup itself. I was thinking with the lower height of the 9005 cup, more of the foam might make it up and over into the collection cup. Anyone done this?

Typically this indicates an issue with the venturi unless the sediment load is very high, a 9010 should be able to skim wet.

A nipple from the airline plugs into this, it should fit firmly, so much so that you can lift the pump by the hose. If it comes out easily the nozzle is defective. Be sure that the airline is not pinched, their is a hook in the skimmer body that retains the hose, if the hose is pinched between the pump and the body that can also be a culprit.

It definitely will not hold up the pump. When I disassembled it the other day and re-assembled, I couldn't figure out why it wasn't a tight fit. It stays in, but it needs to be re-assembled carefully so it stays in when I put the pump back in. I'll double check, but form memory on re-assembling, i really don't think it could hold up the pump.

also, i should mention that the holes in the nozzle and the hole on what it slides on to on the pump didn't seem to quite line up. this was the 1st time I disassembled it, so I did not know if it was normal or not, and just rolled with it.

Took it apart last week Wed., reassembled again. Still nothing. The neck gets covered with thick dry skimmate, but very little foam makes it up and over, not even 20 mL, to the cup in 5 days. If it is a matter of needing to be snug, can I just stick some tape around the end of the venturi hose that fits in that nozzle hole?

Sam, if the nipple fits in snug enough that you can lift the pump by the hose then this is not the problem. If it slips out easily this is the problem and tape is a temporary fix, you can try it to test but PM me your info and I will send a new nozzle.

ok, I disassembled again and am taking apart / soaking overnight in a stronger vinegar solution than normal, but I check again to make sure I have it correct.

I can lift the pump by the hose when inserted into nozzle.

I cannot lift the pump without the hose falling out (i.e., if holding pump with tube in nozzle, it won't lift the skimmer body at all).

this is how it should be, no? anything I should check for next inside the pump or something? impellar?

I don't understand, the hose should be permanently installed in the skimmer, it is attached to the silencer. The hose nipple plugs into the side of the venturi nozzle.

with the hose nipple plugged into the side of the venturi nozzle, I can lift the pump by the venturi tube, even swing it a bit back and forth, so I think the fit is indeed snug that way.

However, if vice versa, and pick up the pump itself (with hose nipple plugged into the side of the venturi nozzle) and try to lift the skimmer body by picking up the pump, it slips out easily.

I'm a little confused on how to explain, sorry. Last week was the first time I'd fully disassembled it since I bought it a few months ago, so not too familiar with it. I can take a photo when I reassemble after it finishes to soak if that will help. I'm just a little unclear as to how snug it should be fitting in.

Also, the 'brake shoes' look kind of worn like they've been rubbing. Is this normal?

The hose attachment sounds correct but a picture would help. The brake shoes do wear normally to some extent, it is only a problem if they are so worn that they fall out easily or they cannot stop the impeller from spinning backwards.

sent an email via the email icon with a video of my 9010 . hope you can possibly spot something.
