Anyone using a wavebox?

I used them in a tanks I set up. I like them but they are pricey.

Myself I have a sclsed loop with eductors and 4 streams on a 7095 controller.

it gives a natural motion in tank i like mine very much ,fish like it to also you still have to have other source of water movement light sensor shuts it down at night

Did your wave box keep your substrate cleaner than it would have been without one?

It does for me.

You will notice it doesn't give much of a chance for stuff to settle on the bottom. It also pulls a lot of crap out from behind the rocks when you first start it up.

Don't count on it for flow (not going to replace powerheads) but its a great addition to any tanks. Especially if you have softies and LPS.

Someone told me their wave box caused their glass to split and they said there was a warning on the box. Anyone experience that?

no but it does shorten life of tank from the rocking motion suposely weakens the seems

When you say shorten the life are you saying that one day I could come home and find my tank's contents all over my floor? So is it wise to purchase a wave box?

I would like an answer to this as well.

I just purchase a Visio 180gal that I would like to put a wave box in but I can not imagine coming home to everything flopping on the floor!

I went ahead and purchased one. I was told by numerous people that we're talking yearrrrrrsssss down the road before any damage can be done.

I've got a 75 softie tank right now and was looking at the wavebox nano...I would like to upgrade to sps sometime in the future - anyone have a wavebox with sps? Is it better to just have powerheads on an sps tank?

From what I have been told you need the ph for directional flow and the wave box is used to keep detritus suspended and it also keeps water movement in areas that would otherwise be a dead spot. I have a Tunze 6206 on the way

I have my wavebox custom drilled and mounted to the outside of my tank.

Here are some pics.

You are correct.

I have a frogspawn in the corner of my tank that just sits limp when the wavebox is off. There is really no flow in the corners of my tank until the wavebox comes on and then that frogspawn is rocking!

A wavebox really doesn't allow dead spots, IME.

I have used both the tunze products and wave2k products in my tanks over the years with no ill effects on the tanks. Majority of reef tank keepers use some form of wavemaker in their tanks and I have never heard of the tanks splitting or weakening from the use of a wavemaker. IMO if there is that much force from the wavemaker to damage the tank it would most likely splash water out of it or severely damage your livestock first. My favorite product to date is the wave2k products.... Great company great product

My 6206 came in yesterday from Marine Depot. Will be setting it up soon after cooking my rocks and changing my sand and everything out.
