Anyone using side-lighting?

I considered it when I did my first led tank. I had big colonies and too many shadows. I got some very narrow white strips that did light the shadows up, but the light didn't spread up from the bottom edge of the front of the tank fast enough. And although they didn't have great PAR they weren't dimmable and they just didn't look good. So I gave it up. That was 4 years ago. Somebody might find a better led strip now.

Funny, I tried the same thing. My plating monti was blocking the light to my hammer, so I stuck a light to the side. Looked stupid, and unnatural, so I took it off and pruned the **** out of the monti. Which is what I should have done in the first place.
