Anyone using these lights?

I ordered four actinic bulbs from MarineAndReef.com and two new MH bulbs from IslandAquatics today for my 48" Dual MH fixture. Should have them all in mid to late next week and will have pictures up (hopefully if they all work right!) soon afterwards.

I may have missed it in previous posts, but which T5 and MH bulbs did you order?

I think you will want the MH. I love mine and it's been working great. I changed out the bulb for a Phoenix 14K 150W (a 175W HQI bulb does not exist) and love the color. I'm probably overdriving the bulb but I will replace it after 6 months.
 
I got my new actinic bulbs in today for my fixture and installed them......

Well, three of them. One of the wires which is soldered onto the connecter came loose on one of them. I need to repair that over the weekend then connect the fourth bulb. Careful to any of you who have the 48" MH fixture and change the T5 bulbs.. the connectors/wires are very fragile...

Finally have true actinics over the tank... What a difference it makes!

I'll post some pics later in the week once I get my new MH bulbs in too - which will be on Thursday.


Again, the actinic T5 bulbs were purchased from marineandreef.com. Here is the description off the invoice:

Warboc the T5s you bought how purple are they compaired to the stock bulbs it came with?...see i was thinking of taking the T5s off and installing some 4 65W actinic 03 to get more of a deep blue.
 
any owners have a ballast part # for the 175 Hqi? i wanted to know if it was really a 150........... nevermind Page 16 had my answer.

The bulbs that came with my MH/T5 unit were "blue" T5 bulbs, not Actinic Blue. The actinics really help to bring out color in things.

You need to purchase normal output T5 bulbs for the Odyssea fixtures. They are not the "T5" bulbs everyone generally buys for the "T5' fixtures. See earlier posts in this thread for more info.
 
Does anybody know about the 175 MH fixture they are selling for $149.00, I'm about to buy one and would just like to get some info.
 
warboc, Are the lights you bought blue or deep purple? Or futher more are they actinic 03 or actinic blue? The guy from marinandreef couldnt answer my question when i asked about the output color.
 
It is more bluish. I did not understand your question earlier when I first read it. The actinics on my 55 are definitely more purplish so I can compare it easily and now understand. I looked when the main lights went off just a while ago....

It is definitely a LOT different from the blue light put out by the bulbs that came with my fixture though.. Corals catch the light really well under them (when only the actinics are on it is obvious).
