My asterina star population exploded in my tank, spent a little time removing some. Does anybody need them or I'll toss them away?? I'm in Covina, if I don't hear from anybody in the new 3 hours or so I'll b tossing them away.

Btw these starfish eat coralline algae. That's y I'm trying to reduce the population.

I hear that all the time but in 20+ years I've never seen one that does. I think reefers see them on dead and dying corals and blame the starfish for something that was already dead.

Never ate my corals... ever...

They r gone

I've had them in my tanks since I started in the 90's and never lost a coral to them. Coralline algae is a different story.

same... I didn't care much for them since they never bother any of my corals.. but I got tired of my rocks looking bare without coraline algae.. My display tank is coraline algae free thanks to these guys. So i've decided to spend sometime pulling them out.

You like coraline? man.. I wish I had some stars now lol.

Same here wish I could get rid of them to have some coralline grow, no wonder it only grows in the sump, hahaha.

have had many in my tanks for years with no coral eating, but all of a sudden they have developed a taste for zoas. got a harlequin shrimp and population is dramatically reduced

maybe reduce feeding too. I had a population explosion in my old tank. Reduced feeding and their numbers checked themselves.

also found my Linkia starfish eat these. very cool to see.

Not sure what kind of wrasses you have, but I put a harlequin shrimp in my tank and my melanarus and yellow coris wrasses leave it alone so far for 2 weeks.
