Hey guys

Ive been in the hobby for 5 years, and decided that i could take on a clown tang. Ive had him for about 2 months, and haven't seen him specifically eat any food ive fed, which includes nls pellets, flakes, nori, mysis, brine, and marine grazer rings. I think they only way hes survived until today is him eating the algae off the rocks.....

I have an algae scrubber in my other tank, and i made a ball and stuck it in the tank today, but ive been out, so ill have to see when i get back.

ive also tried garlic extreme, KZ amino and immun stabil..... im at a loss

and ideas guys?

N&p are 10 and .10, sps is thriving. Minimum 40x flow. He's under 3" in my 50, once he grows abit, he's going into my 300

Try live blackworms.

I had the same issue with mine, he never ate aquarium foods. he lived maybe a couple of years on whatever he was eating off the rocks then died. I never did try blackworms as I did not know about them or where to get them back then.

Keep trying mysis. I was able to get mine to eat it in 2 days time.He will fair much better in a 300g reef obviously. Did you treat him for anything while in QT? You could always TTM the tang and put him in the DT in 2 wks from the start of TT

By no means don't give up on the fish, but I've always found CT's to be hit or miss when it comes to accepting food. I believe they are an extremely high energy fish that needs some reserves in the tank to make the transition. Unfortunately, because of their reasonable price tag, I don't believe they are given any special care when collected. For the record, I've had better luck with ones coming out of the Maldives than their Indo counterparts.
