Anything other than Mantis/Pistol shrimp make clicking noises?

I placed the first half of the TBS package in my 40 gallon tank about 5 weeks ago (daily log here ). Within minutes of placing the rock in the tank I began hearing clicking noises. The clicking has continued for 5 weeks now. The clicking/popping can be quite loud and distinctly heard at least 5-6 feet from the tank. I have taken each rock out multiple times and inspected it. I have quite a few hitch-hikers and none have come up missing. I do have one very large decorator crab, maybe he is making the noises?

If there is a mantis in the tank I cannot find it and he never comes out (when I am around), can anything else cause such clicking noises?

No, snapping shrimp and stomatopods are the about the only things that make clicking sounds.

what about those regular shrimps that click when they move fast, i think theyre freshwater, though, theyre like glass shrimp

There are lots of crustaceans that can make noise including some that click. However, snapping shrimp and smashing stomatopods are much much louder than any others that I know of.
