Apex and checking Cal?

There is no current calcium monitoring probe for the Apex controller. My understanding is that they are in development of an Alkalinity monitoring system that will be available in the supposed near future. However, it will not be cheap, that's for sure.

Dang it, I was hoping I missed something.

I'm getting tired of checking params:uzi::hmm4:

Get a Hanna checker for Alkalinity. It makes Alkalinity quick and easy to test. Once you have Alk stable, Calicium should fall in line. I check Alk twice a week and Cal just once a month.

I have a Milwaukee, 2 hannas and some redsea kits. Im at a point where I want everything digital:dance:

Too funny! I'm guessing I have the exact same test kit lineup that you're using too! My favorite by far is the Milwaukee cuz I'm blind as a bat and had the hardest time reading a traditional refractometer. Thought about getting the Hanna Calcium checker but heard that it's quite tedious to use and difficult to get consistently repeatable results.

Same, I've read on a few forums the Hanna Ca is not good.
To make me a happy camper, I need a probe for everything, including what will die off next so I can just take it out before it messes up my probe colony:lolspin:

You have to dilute the Hanna sample for Ca. Salifert I've found has the best colour contrast / distinctive changes of the main kit vendors out there.

The only controller that has said they are working on calcium monitoring is the ProfiLux controller and they are working on Alkalinity also. No date on when it will be available I don't think. Apex is working on Alkalinity but no word on Calcium monitoring I don't think. I'm sure both companies are in hush mode about progress on what the plans are and when.

I'm pretty sure most people hate testing so this could be pretty big for controllers in the hobby. I'm hoping we aren't talking years but I'll just sit on the sideline and wait. If they can make it reliable I think this will be huge.

The "KH Director" from Profilux has been teased a few times by Mathias Gross, owner of GHL over on the other big forum but so far, everyone's still waiting. The Germans concept of a few days is apparently a lot longer than ours! :D

I thought the Milwaukee was a lot of money, but I am so glad I bought it. I know check my water more because it's so easy. I also use the Hana for ALK. It's so much easier than the Red Sea. I hate trying to match colors.
