So I've decided that apex is the controller I want.
But I am having the hardest time deciding which unit.

I want to have temp control
Dosing
Control kessil aw365w

Maybe control vortec mp10 x2
Maybe ph monitoring
?

Thoughts
Then are on Black Friday sale till the end of today.
What am I missing.
Jr $290 classic $670 new$970 Canadian $
Thanks

At the least the classic. You are gonna have to buy to many add on modules to expand the jr down the road and end up being close to the classic price that has most of what you want anyway

I have the classic. Buy the new one. Mine is apparently already outdated and as they come out with more cool stuff, I'll be left behind.

You're not having trouble deciding on which unit, you're having trouble deciding on how much you are willing to spend... That we can't help with :)

I only have a FOWLR and still needed the benefits of a classic. I feel the jr is best suited to nano's and such.

Are the bugs all worked out of the new unit?

Seem to be. I have a 2016 model that's been installed at a customers for a number of months now without issue and I have both the Classic and the 2016 model on different tanks at my house and the 2016 has been just fine and performed flawlessly.

I had mine returned when it had just gotten released and am soon purchasing it again.
The new one has lots of potential with so many new gadgets coming out

I got the Jr about a year ago, and while I'm very happy with it, the inability to run their break out box (and thus the inability for the controller to work with float switches) is a HUGE limitation. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't cheaped out.

I believe they've changed their product line-up a bit since then, but wanted to throw that out there just in case. Mine really is a glorified timer.

Could you not have bought the PM1/2 and hooked the BOB up to the PM1/2?

If you have Kessil lights or any other equipment that requires the VDM ports the classic is the better option. I almost got the JR thinking I would NEVER use all 8 outlets, I setup my Apex a few weeks ago and I am fixing to order a second EB8. Sure I can probably do away with some of my outlets that don't need to be powered by the apex, but for the alert sake I like it this way!

If you plan on using any 24v devices, ie solenoids, get the new APEX. Hate to take up a EB8 outlet for the adapter.
