I was hoping to take some pictures of the 150 Gallon display tank I set-up at the Animal Adventure store near 441 and College Ave but was terminated last night without warning. If anyone has some extra time and a camera could you please try and take a few pics of the tank for me. I was happy with what I did there in such a short time and would like to have something to show for it. I know that the store has allowed people to take pics in the past but ask that you be subtle about it if you do try to help me out.

Thanks,
~Spike

PS: If the magfloat is on the tank feel free to give it a swipe or too if it needs it.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I heard you were making good progress out of what was once quite a mess. What happened?

To be honest I think it was because I was enjoying my work too much and my employer was stressed out and miserable because of other store related issues. The other thing was that I was starting to command a substantial weekly commission check because of the increased coral sales and it was too much for him too take even though he stood to profit much more from the SW dept than he did in the past. He also prefers to hire only women at the store. A former female co-worker from the Green Bay store was managing the fishroom at the time I was hired and brought me in. She soon quit because of his vocal tirades towards her. I was not around when these things happened. Simply put the owner of the AA franchises is not a nice person and very difficult to deal with. Its obvious to me he does not enjoy managing the store. I did nothing to warrant my termination. The whole ordeal was a total shock to me and I am still having a tough time getting over it.

Actually according to law I am still entitled to my commission from all the frags in the 150 so feel free to snatch any up and give them good homes.

Dang Spike I thought it was so nice they finally had someone in there that knew what they were doing and was looking forward to the cool frags you always have.

As said before it was never worth stopping in before and I guess it doesnt pay to do so anymore again.

Maybe something good will happen and they'll hire you again if you would even go.

I thought you did a great job getting that 150 back into shape.

I'll go pick up that lobo and I will try to take some pictures of the 150. I really hope the manager is there and tries to give me grief about taking pictures :-)

I stopped by and grabbed a couple paly frags tonight. They were the frags of the one piece I had previously wanted that was priced at $69.99 I think (maybe more?)...got them both for about half that. It's a shame Spike, it looked pretty darn good overall...still a bit of a work in progress, but hundredfold better than it looked before. If I ever open up a store, you're my man. ;)

Oh, and I was a bit concerned to see the tank temp was at 84...little warmish. Not that anyone there would care/notice...

Spike, all the acro frags look like they came from a larger A. sarmentosa except for one which appeared to be a tenuis, the one with the crab. The colors all looked similar, but I was wondering if you knew if they were different. The large stag look alright, if a little light color-wise right now. A tad on the expensive side for my taste though. The Acan is way high price-wise. I imagine that will sit there for quite a while. Pieces like that have been going online for $50-100 depending on size (I'd estimate that one at around $75-85 or so)...$160 in the store...markup sucks, eh? :D

TJ ~ I hope you get that lobo ~ its looking puffier everyday.

Fred ~ All of the Acro frags did come from a sarmentosa. The stag and acan are priced high because I intended to frag them but did not get the chance. I never expected to sell them at that price.

Things continue to get worse for me there. My check did not have my commission bonus on it and now I am pretty much broke for the holidays.

At least I can kick back and enjoy my own reef for awhile. Its looking better than ever.

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation Spike. I can sympathize with you. I'm about to oversee a simular situation.

Spike, what, if anything do those Acro crabs eat? Jon and I were in the store today, and saw your handi work. I's a shame your gone. I did a little more than eye up the Acro frags though, I Bought one of the ones that had a crab. I really felt it was time to add an Acro to my tank. But my wife is worried about the little crab.

It is unknown what they feed on, many think they feed on the mucus secreted by the coral or particles trapped by the coral polyps. They will also eat meaty foods that fall into the coral, but they do not need to be specially fed. They will die if separated from their coral. They will sometimes migrate from acro to acro, but usually stay within the same coral colony. They pose no threat to the coral and many believe they help with overall growth.

Good luck with it!

I was wondering who grabbed that one...we happened to be over there yesterday and I saw it was gone.

Sorry bout that Fred. you know, usually, I'm the one who looses for snoozen...

I could see a frag swap in this one though... Let me know if your interested.

J

If you look close, you can see the crab.

There were 2 frags with the crabs when I left last week. There were 4 crabs total on the mother colony but 2 of them were of the hairy variety and had to go.

Jason ~ never thought about selling brick but I am going to have to do something or totally go back to making art for income again which is not all bad.
