Aptasia in my Zoos

Kalk paste em' or use joe's juice... some folks just make em retreat into their holes and superglue them in their tomb.

i'd say the safest and most natural way is to get an animal that naturally eats these anemones...like the peppermint shrimp or even some fish like the copperband butterfly. it will eat the anemones but will leave the zoas alone. if you inject the aptasia with any chemical there is a possibility that you release some into the water and damage your zoas.

I have tried the CBB and it "appeared" that all the aiptasia was eaten. My tank looked perfect for over six months. Instead they just retreated into the rocks and probably came out at night because when the CBB died, within three weeks all the aiptasia came back and in their original locations. l have since used the kalk method and it fixed them for good!!

what happens if you get the kalk paste / joe's juice etc on the coral or into the water? i have one (that i can see) on a base rock that i can't take outta the tank without collasping my whole rockscape. would like to get some info before i attempt to kill it.

and where do you guys get hypodermic needles anyhow??

If you buy Joe's Juice, it comes in the box.

I attach rigid airline tubing to the end of mine to reach them without being noticed and to keep my hands dry.

does anyone have a picture (close up) of what the little aiptasia look like?
I have a colony that I purchased that came with a few little "polyps", kind of clear in color and about the same size of the zoas. I have seen pics of larger aptasia, but not sure if this is what's on the colony. There are probably 4 that I can tell.
