Aqua C EV Experiences?

I have an EV 240 and I got one good cup of skimmate so far. I am running it with a Mag18 and I just can't get it producing. It produces a lot of foam but little thick rich gunk, just watery stuff like he pictures that are posted above in the 5gal bucket. I adjust almost daily in hopes that it will come alive but so far it just hasn't impressed me.

I'm not at all impressed with my EV-180 skimmer. i get about a cup per week, i can't ever get wet skimmate. it just doesn't seem to be all that they claim

The skimmer was not originally designed to skim wet when using the recommended pump. I would recommend that you move to the next size up on pumps if you want the wet stuff.

you get what you pay for... no offense but the ev180 I had never skimmed an ounce and my deltec ap 701 pulls about 1/2 a gallon... A DAY!!!

Yeah that looks like a nice skimmer for about a grand but the foot print is pretty big. I've been hearing allot about the ASM which has a little smaller footprint than the Euroreefs and the deltec's...and everyone seems to love it.....I think allot of people purchase the ESV's because the foot print is smaller than the others and will fit in there sumps. Nice skimmer you have though, I have heard good things about it on the forum here.

well the 240 and pump is about 500.00. with all we have invested doesnt make sense to skimp. you could set it up out of the sump. the difference is really amazing. truly amazing

Yesterday I added some slime coat to see how my skimmer would react..........i wish it would skim like this all the time. I got a gallon of skimmate in about 8 hours and was about medium density.

I have Ran AquaC for some time now.. I am Extremely Impressed with it... I had a Deltec ap1003 on the tank and To be truthful the AquaC pulls out more and Stinkier Skimmate off the tank the the Deltec did.. My current one is an EV400 running with a GenX pcx40... I have no problems getting skimmate at all from my unit... People who have seen my skimmer have liked the performance of it as well... It may have been the Deltec being an Euro model but IMO the AquaC outperformed it pretty good... For the 3000$ in savings i would choose the AquaC any day... If I had the Cash for the Deltec I would still choose the EV and drop the other 2500$ into livestock... I have tried a variety of skimmers as well... The euroreef I havent tried however I have heard from owners that mine performs just as well...

My other Skimmer was a large 40" Dual Beckett with a pcx100 running it... That thing was nothing compared to the Deltec or the AquaC..

I installed a 180 a bit over a week ago and am reasonably happy with what its extracted from my 150g, absolutely no comparison to the old Berlin! I was told to let the waste drain back to the sump for the first 2 weeks but the stuff's too putrid and have a 5gal bucket just incase it goes nuts? Currently I have it hooked up to an Eheim 1060@600gph, and was wondering what the best gph rate was?

After three days and approx two cups of darkstuff I washed it and by the next morning it was working well again.

This pic is after another three days. I washed again and got another 1 1/2 cups from it.
:)

I guess I could move my pump up from the mag18 but dont know if this will improve the skimmate for me. I have been making adjustments to get improvement and nothing thus far. I do have a container that collects the skimmate which may be causing a suction or something. maybe I should get rid of that and try the bucket method

No offense intended, but I find it very hard to believe an Aqua C EV400 could outskim a Deltec AP 1003. I own an EV400 and it is closer in performance to an ASM G4.

that is a 701... best money i ever spent...

Now I might just have to buy one... Argh.

I had an ev-120 and wasn't impressed. For $300 plus pump I thought it would perform better with less tinkering. The injector appears to be hand made. I wonder if some are made better than others accounting for the differences in performance from one person to the next. I sold mine and bought a deltec and never looked back.

I love my EV 180 with MAG 9.5.

Lots of wet skimmate for my 120 barebottom

Can't argue with this result:

I've had this coral for over a year, it is double the size when I bought it as a frag.
