Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Thank you.

Mike, with the coral being on top of my reef the access to the coral isn't that hard. Just time consuming, one pellet for every polyp. I actually just got in the large size pellets from Fauna Marin now so I am switching over from the smaller ones.

Do you run any other filtration besides GAC and the skimmer? I know Mike ( Uhuru ) runs Ozone and I plan on setting mine up to for this.

Skimmer, ESV carbon, and about a liter of Fauna Marin's Ultralith stones in a FM red mesh bag (+FM Ultralith system cocktail). I keep the system very simple.

Mystery Purple with 12K, then 12K only, back to Mystery Purple with 12K.

VERY nice! That mystery purple bulb really makes a big difference. I love how it brings out the warmer colors of the coral.

Thanks Sean! The bulb does exactly what I wanted it to. In person, what it does to oranges, reds, and pinks is visually pretty awesome. Now, this bulb isn't for everyone. I use my lights for a limited time of the day and prolonged use of red light in a nutrient heavy environment might have a few side effects ;) For aquariums smaller than mine the light may be to intense. Overall I am impressed with this light and the amount of light it produces.

Mike ,
How long do your FM Ultralith stones last before you replace ?
I'm thinking of using them due to a little more build up on the glass than I like.
Also, can you elaborate on your FM "cocktail" a bit.

For the stones, I do not change them any where near where the "recommended" scheduled time frame. For me, I use the stones in helping me provide an additional food sources for my crinoids. Way before using Fauna Marin's products I use to bioballs to do this. I would let the bioballs sit in a mesh bag in my sump and the shake the bag when I came home from work. What I have read is that a large part of crinoids diet consist of detritus and this is how I decided to provide it. For the FM cocktail it is actually MinS, MinD, Bak and Bio but they are all dosed seperately. You can use either MinD or MinS but you don't need to use both.
