Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Thank you and welcome over to RC!

For the time being, the FTS for is on hold. Honestly, not sure if I will post it here first or the other forum ;)

The new set-up can be controlled better now. All four foods are set to dose through out the day and additional feedings can be dosed by pushing the red buttons on the dosing unit itself. Also, you will notice there are no JG fittings in there ;)

Mike,
Did you see the item in the latest issue of Coral magazine about mounting frags in a reef? The technique is a super glue gel-putty-super glue gel "sandwich." I've heard from others that it works well and will give a bond that will hold things upside down. It's the issue with Tobies on the cover.

Gotta say this is one of the most helpful pieces of advice I've ever gotten. It's an awesome feeling to remember that 11 years into a hobby you can still learn some rather common sense/simple things!

I just mounted 5 lime sized colonies of Tubastrea on vertical and inverted surfaces and they held tight after just a few second of holding them in place.

The Fauna foods are still used in their dry form and fed through the fishmate autofeeder. The Reef Nutrition/Reeds Mariculture foods will last between 2 to 3 months pending on the food in my tank. Depending on the volume of food that you need for you tank, pick the size bottles that best fits your needs.

Oh, okay. What kinds of Funa foods do you feed and how long do they last for you?

*EDIT* I forgot to ask, how big are the bottles of food in your mini frig?

The large bottles in the refrigerator are 1 quart or 32oz. For dosing I break it down to ml, so IIRC it is around 946 ml in a quart. The dry Fauna Marin food I buy in the large containers (clam, minF,seafan) and seems to last between 4-5 months. That doesn't include any of the frozen cyclop-eeze that I use (atleast one bar a week), the packs of PE Mysis (stuff is F'n awesome), the large containers of LPS pellets in Large and Medium sizes, and a couple of other items (items that I am trialing/testing/or got hooked up with that are not available in the US).

Oh, okay. :) I made an estimate of about how much you spend on food a year, price didn't include mysis, frozen cyclop-eeze, and several others. Price range is about $1,300 - $1,750 a year lol

No one ever said that this hobby is cheap...now this is somthing to keep in perspective when looking to design large non-photosynthetic system. Water changes, stocking, feeding, electic, time, etc. all need to be put into the equation.

Yeah, I know. :) I just wanted to find out an estimate you spend on food because I was bored. lol If you'd like and If you give me the info, I can find out an estimate on costs a year on water changes, stocking, electricity, and such. lol

Thanks for the offer. I can break down everything into a full spread sheet if needed but I dont feel the need to bore everyone :) More of an interesting spread sheet/graphs would be the cost vs volume of beer/alcohol spent/consumed keeping my sanity

hi
i think nps tank isnt cheap but i think if you got a sps tank you need more light and more bulbs... so you can buy a lot of food:D
i dont know how much electricity costs in the us but in germany the difference between my new nps tank and my old sps tank with the same size is more than 250$ cheaper...
so you can buy a lot of food:D
