Aquabella Bio-Enzyme Salt Water Treatment System

MrTuskfish, are you using this? Sounds interesting for my outdoor pond as well as my aquaria.

$30/125g/year... not buying salt and not doing WCs.

It sounds way past to good to be true, but I'll keep my fingers crossed all the same.

I know it does sound to good to be true.I could save alot of money not buying salt.Mrtusk are you using it now?I would like some more feed back

I haven't got it yet, probably today. I assume it would be weeks/months before any change would be evident. I'm pretty skeptical on most miracle products, but some strange stuff has come around that I like---most I don't. I do trust the guy who told me about this, I'll keep you updated. I just can't resist some new toys, especially when they might may make life easier or better.

Too late to edit: This stuff has been around a while, just not at the dealers I like to buy from. I'm not "shilling"; but, at F&S, if I don't like it, I get my money back.

Sounds interesting, however I'd still advocate doing water changes. Even if not for the purpose of reducing nitrate, phosphate, etc, but to restore levels of alk, ca, mg, and trace elements if you're keeping a reef. Even with regular dosing you're not going to replenish all trace elements.

I wonder if this undermines how successful this product can be as you'd be removing some with each water change?

Yeah; I'm going to try this in a FOWLR, not a reef.

starting in my 300 fowlr now...if success, will try on other tanks...we need to keep this thread alive...or begin a fresh one- sharing our results with this new product...

It definitely seems too good to be true, but I'm thinking about trying it. $30 is nothing in the saltwater world, if I could spend that much and not do a water change even for 6 months, that would be amazing.

What tests do you guys think should be done on the tank water to verify it's still OK for fish?

pH, salinity and temp are the only three I monitor in my FOWLR, but I count on regular water changes to keep everything else regular so if I'm stopping water changes for 6 months, then what should I test to make sure the water is still good for fish?

I would think observation would be the only real test you could do. We already cannot test for everything, and replacing something as comprehensive and fundamental as water changes... you just cannot sum that up in tests available to hobbyists, IMO.

Yeah; so much in the SW hobby is subjective. I do many things now just because they work. IMO, close observation and knowing when something isn't quite right is the most important part of the hobby and we just don't say that often enough.

Those are the only three I monitor too. The stuff says it breaks down nitrate & phosphate; I really don't worry about those in my FOWLR tanks; but have the tests. (I guess I monitor phos by eye, more than normal algae---toss in a bag of PhosGuard for a few weeks.) I'm just going to watch. Maybe several months out, test nitrate & phos; just for the sake of knowing whats happening. But if the tank looks fine; who knows? I guess that if my fish generally thriving, like they are now, at least I'm on the right track.

I have to admit, that is my dealer of choice for many reasons. We don't hear this as shilling at all. PLEASE keep information on this coming. Anyone using it, please post results be they subjective or not.

Keep us informed on how it working

I will. But how can I tell? I guess it would be easy to tell if it was harmful. But if nothing really changes, can we assume its the "miracle stuff". BTW, I don't do nearly the water changes that many folks do and that will make it even tougher to evaluate. I'll admit to doing quite a few things differently than I would ever post on the forum; so my experiences with this stuff should be read with that in mind.

Did my 1st dose also today...I did do a large water change yesterday...really curious and somewhat nervous to see what happens...
