What's the best pump for the EV400?

Thanks

Paul

I have a 240 but if it were me I'd use an Iwaki MD55RLT

You can put stainless steel screws in them and no worries. I don't really want a 10 lb. Iwaki outside my sump unless it is running my return line.

Would the Mag24 have more power than the Iwaski 55RLT to run the EV400 better

Mag24 = 2400GPH

Iwaski 55RLT = 1080GPH

I just picked one up last night from Makin Waves in Van Nuys, Ca.
Setup was fast and easy. :D
B.T.W Makin Waves RULES!, by far the best I have ever seen in my 15 years in the hobby. I will give them all of my buisness.

mag24 @12' head = 607gph
Iwaski 55RLT @ 12' head = 730gph

So no, it wouldnt, IMO.

Again, just my opinion.

So the 55RLT is a higher pressure pump than the Mag24?

Then it would be better to have higher pressure than volume?

Thanks

Paul

Difference between EV-200 EV-240?

Difference between EV-200 EV-240?

I got a used Aquac-C form a friend. I think it is a EV-240 but I'm not sure. I measured it and from the specs on the Aqua c page it looks to be a EV-240. But it might be a EV-200. It has no JG fitting, but has the flange on the bottom of the collection cup for quick release. It also has the ball valve for air adjustment. It has the 1 1/2 in. gate valve. Measures 10.75 by 6.75 by 12 in. tall box.. The tube with the collection cup is 6 in. od and 10 in. tall. The skimmer is 26 in. tall with cup.

Just wondering if anyone knows the diffrfence between the 2 for sure. I think it is a EV-240 that someone opted to not have the JG fitting installed. Anyone know? Thanks..

Thanks KAiNE,

now another ?

For the EV400, which one?

55RLT

or

70RLT

Thanks

Paul

I cant say for sure but I'd think the 70 would be to much pump.

can u aqua c fans post some air flow measurements? I had an EV-180 and thought it did a decent air flow but started building becketts and it got lost in the shuffle.

If the gate valve is located on the top half of the mixing box, it is an EV 240, if on the lower half, the EV 200

It's all the way up to where the water line is supposed to be. So I guess who ever got this new opted to not have the JG installed. Cool beans! I'll install my own so I can run the effulent from my reactor to it. Can't beat it for free.

My 180 on my nano on a mag 7 :)

been running the Aqua C Remora on my 33 g cube for two months now. I must say that I love this unit, it really takes out some nasty smelly stuff. Water is always ultraclean and noise is very low after paper towel mod, but I also noticed that the noice does reduce with time as they have stated. I clean my cup every two days. and do not use any water conditioner, else, your remora will bubble like crazy for hours.

AquaC EV 240

AquaC EV 240

When I first decided to go with the AquaC EV 240 back in May, I said I would post what it looked like when it was up and going. Now that it's October, I think it's about time. :D

First, I have to say, I would recommend this skimmer to anyone. I would recommend powering it appropriately however. Don't cheap out on the pump. I am using a Panworld 100PX and she kicks. The skimmer has worked great and hasn't let me down.

More importantly, my corals and fish are thriving. The corals I had previously are growing freakishly huge and my SPS frags are starting to take off. Growth has been 1- 1.5" for my acros and 2 -3" diameter for my orange table, in 4 months time. I'm okay with this growth because I don't have a calcium reactor yet (and I could certainly do better with my water changes).

The Panworld 100PX is gated, but I have it fully opened. The skimmer output is also gated and mostly open. The air intakes are open, though I have tried different settings in the past and may again (just because I can).

Just happy to give something back...

Here's the skimmer!!!!

fantasic what pump are you using for your skimmer ? I have a 33g long coming and I plan on using the mag7 on it

Panworld 100PX

Bear in mind the sump is 30G... The tank is 156G.

I think I'm going to have to download some more recent shots of the tank, the 2 week shot in my gallery does no justice at this point...

I haven't had any problems with Mag pumps...hey some people dose iron for their macroalgae, now you won't have to :D

If you go this route however, I would opt for the Mag 18. That's what I have, and it works pretty well, but in no way is it overpowered. Generally speaking, it seems that people who are less than thrilled with their AquaC performance are using the low end of the recommended pumps, which the Mag 12 is for the EV-240.

I was thinking of a submersible pump. Probably a Mag 12
