Aquaconnect MH Bulbs

Hi Tom,

We are debating on carrying those. We really haven't seen anything yet though that would put them apart from all the other brands already out there. The market is getting too floaded with different brand bulbs these days, half of them we even question where they are being made.

Hi Jason,

FWIW, I'd be interested in these too. Actually, I am planning on purchasing them. The good thing about these bulbs is that they are a great middle road for all of the people with 250w hqi set-ups that think 10k bulbs are a little too yellow and 20k bulbs are too blue. I'm excited to try these bulbs out. With Bushke (from Aqualine Bushke) as the owner of the company, I think they have a good name behind them.

If you do decide to start selling these, let me know soon and I'll be one of the first in line to get them from you guys. I have bought a few things from you guys in the past (as recently as last week :P) and think your customer service is great.

I agree with JellyTheory.

I am actually looking for 250W SE. It looks like they make them. They have a screw base E40 listed. Does this = mogul? I have the newer IceCap ballasts, so I shouldn't have any problem driving them.

If you decide to carry them you can put me down for a pair as well.

If you can get me 2 Aquaconnect bulbs, 250W DE 14K, I would buy them tomorrow. You have my credit info, go ahead and charge it! ;-)

Hi Everyone,

You got it, we have them on order. They are saying probably early March before they will hit the US.

thanks

Cool! Thank you so much for listening to your customers! I think it shows the type of excellent customer service your company has!

How much will you be selling them for? And what will shipping be for 3 to the 91710 zip code? Like I said earlier, I will be the first in line to buy them from you guys! As long as they are the 250w DEs of course. :)

Just for clarification - are these the mysterious Aquaconnect 14K bulbs, purported to be the #1 bulbs in Germany? Aquaconnect HIT, "luxury" line of AB?

And if so, are they the same are the "10K" bulbs that Sanjay just tested?

Here is a website, this the same bulb? Sorry for all the questions, but it's so dang confusing. I have no problem buying them, I just want to make sure they're what I think they are (since I just shelled $200 for megachromes yesterday). ;-)

premiumaquatics rocks!

Jason-
I'm interested in a couple of these as well (250w DE for an Aquaspacelight). I've been interested in the new Giesemann Megachromes, but they've been out of stock and I just recently heard about this new bulb. I think they should be the safest bet, since they are from AB (more or less). I too am looking for something a little higher temp than the 10k ABs, but not as low an output as the 20ks.
Are you taking names or putting them officically on order for people at this point?

Thanks,
Ron

Fliger - For your questions...

1) As far as I know yes.
2) Yes
3) No, they are not the same bulbs Sanjay tested. These fall under the AquaConnect name not the AB name (although Bushke is the owner). These bulbs are considered 14k not 10k.
4) Didn't see a website in your post to reference.

-Chris

Fliger - Yeah, that's the bulb "(#12903) 250W HIT 14,000K+ - double-ended".

I hope they do too but with a little more blue. It appears there is some confusion as to which Giesemann bulb Sanjay used for this 250w hqi testing. I know of two people in the Southern Cal area that are currently using the Giesemanns. So it will be cool to compare what there tank looks like compared to mine in a few months.

Once I get the Aquaconnect bulbs (will probably wait a week for them to burn in after getting them) I plan on taking pictures of them set up on my tank. I will also take some comparison pictures of one of the 10k AB bulbs on one side of the tank and a 14k AC bulb on the other side. Since I have three ROIII pendants over the tank, I will leave the center pendant empty to try to avoid the two light sources bleeding into each other. It will hopefully be a very noticeable difference. :) I'll probably take some pictures with and without the three 140w URI actinics I have over the tank for reference too.

The bulbs will be kind of expensive, but hopefully worth it in the long run. :)

Hi All,

I haven't seen any prices on the bulbs yet, they said 2nd week in March now and they would have a price list before they arrived. We'll get a couple cases of Se and DE if they have them. I'm not sure the rumor about the luxury bulb of Germany, etc. Seems each new product that comes out from Germany always claims it's the best of the best in Germany, so hard to say. Probably a lot of it is marketing.

We are also going to get the 13K Giesemann bulb as well, although it sounds like this will be one expensive bulb, but i'm sure Giesemann would be very high quality.

So no preorders and no waiting list then?

I'm also wondering if you carry any options for the Aquaspacelight PC actinics? The Osrams are more green than I would like. Do the 28w actinics that I see on you site work in an Aquaspacelight? I can't remember the pin configuration that I need and don't know if the extra 4 watts each is an issue as well.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi,

We could do a call in waiting list for them, but since we do not have prices, would be hard to offer a discount, etc. Not sure how much profit will be in them etc. I have a feeling they'll be on the high side, but hopefully not.

I'll have to check on the PC's. I'm sure someone makes an alternative for them.

Thanks, Jason.
From the Giesemann and Aquaconnect websites the bulbs list as $95 and $96 respectively, but obviously dealer pricing will affect these "sugested" prices.
I'd like to replace both my MH and PC actinics at the same time, so I'd appreciate it if you would check on the PCs for me. I guess I'll just keep checking here and perhaps by phone to keep tabs on your shipment from Aquaconnect, since I'd hate to wait on the bulbs and then miss out on the first shipment.
Thanks,
Ron

Is there a range for the price of the bulb? Will these run on any standard magnetic ballast? I want to buy an entire setup.. i.e.

SLS Blue Wave III
RO III Pendant
Aquaconnect 14k Bulb

will this be compatible?

Thanks!

E40 is the European standard. It fits very roughly into a mogul base, if you haven't noticed it is much tighter to screw a European bulb into a Mogul base. The Europeans make the 175w 10K specifically for our market as it is unpopular in Europe and call this base E39. E stands for Edisons and I believe the number is the length of the thread in a straight line in cm.
