AquaCRemora Surface Skimmer Box

Has anyone used this? I was considering getting one for my 29. It looks like it would do a decent job while hiding the pump.
Any input would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

When I used an AquaC I purchased the Skimmer Box. It did the job but was definitly noticeable in the tank. I did not like the look of the skimmer box, looked big in a 120 gallon. I can only imagine how it would look in a 29. But with that said the box looked better than the Brick of a pump.

I have one in my 55 and it is actually very large. I was suprised how much room it took up. I would be reluctant to do it on a smaller tank.

I have one on my 75.

I'd recommend against putting this in a 29. It is 8 inches wide, about 7 inches tall, and about 2 inches deep. That's alot of real-estate in a tank that small.

Aside from the size issues, I have to say I'm not overly happy with mine anyway. You have to really keep an eye on your water levels in order for it to keep the surface water clean. Too high and it doesn't skim the surface water properly. Too low and you interrupt the water flow into the skimmer which screws up the skimming process.

It's also attaches in a pretty annoying fashion. There are two screws located on the front of the box that you turn until they make contact with the powerhead. Then you just tighten them until you get enough pressure to hold it in place. While it does stay in place, it isn't a very precise method of getting it there, and I find myself having to make multiple attempts at getting it attached at the height I want.

Don't get me wrong, I love the skimmer and couldn't be happier. But the surface attachment leaves alot to be desired.

thanks for the responses. the common thing im reading is its more of a pain than its worth. plus i already have 4 other mj1200's running on the wavemaker- so the one running the skimmer doesnt do any extra harm to the looks of the tank. if it made a huge difference in the performance of the skimmer it might have been worth it. If i come across a used one just to test drive i would consider it just for the experimentation, but after the input its not worth ordering it.
thanks again for all the help
