AquaForest Program

And a reminder if you are balling your own Alk, Ca, and Mg in addition to adding the weekly Components A, B, and C. Kalium is not part of the ABC and need to be purchased and dosed separately.

So is this math right?

AF Reef Salt 25KG equals approx. 200G of 1.024 sg mixed saltwater at 59.99 (amazon w/ prime) let's say 190G at $ .31 per gallon.

Reef Crystals 25.4KG box equals approx. 200G of 1.021 sg mixed saltwater at 49.99 (amazon w/ prime) let's say 185G at $ .27 per gallon.

With a price difference of less than $ .05 per gallon it seems like a no brainer cost wise if you are interested in trying out the AF products.

I don't pop in here much at all . I am on the other forums . I recently switched to AF Pro-Biotic salt . I have a FUSION 40 nano coming up on a year mark . Locally ppl ask if I am running full blown AF n my response is sorta . The products are very similar to TM items .
The Salt reminds me of TM Bio actif . . My system is as follows .
Fusion 40 Mixed reef SPS , LPS Z's n p's
Skimmer . Geisemann Matrix II with 1 50/50 reefbrite .
AF Probiotic salt > converting from Bionic
TM bio actif > looks like powdered bio-pellelts . dosed 1 per week
Eco System Full Balling Salts A,B , C ..
I mix half mag with half Kent tech M
Pohl's extra 1.0 ml per week
I still have RSCP amino's n colors left but do not use atm .
Rowa Phos changed every 6 weeks
Carbon changed once a month .
So what changes would one do to be considered full blown ?
Only I water change so far . 10 gallons . 1- 2 weeks ago .
Some pic's of my corals .

Sorry no DSLr . LG G4 PHONE PIC'S
I can't say I miss the weather in Mass . LOL

Hope you guys don't mind asking a few questions on your forum but here goes. I see tweaked is raving about a,b,c, and kalium. Is abc actually 1,2,3 for the balling method?
Has anyone with a ca rx been using AF? I'm assuming if your running a ca rx you don't need the 123 to supplement since it's just alk,ca, and mag?

I have a 200 gal tank and I am really considering doing some of the AF line up. Silly question but how many ml's are in a drop? I'm just trying to do some math for how much this will cost monthly. I don't think I would be using this stuff daily but at least every other day at half the dosage for a bit.

What I'm thinking about doing is...
Probiotic salt
Probio S 50ml
NP Pro 50 ml
Coral B 50 ml
Coral E 50 ml
Coral V 50 ml

I'd like to get my nitrates down a bit since they are somewhere between 10-25. I'm also looking to get my sps to grow a little faster and the holy grail of better color. For my goals would I be on the right path?
Btw thx for the link to dr fosters since they seem to be the only game online for the big probiotic salt.

I have been running Oceanic for years and when I make the switch should I do a combo of the 2 salts to ease the transition? I just know the alk in it is 8-11dkh which is one of the reasons I want to switch since I keep my alk around 7.

Thx,
Steve

ABC is the trace and metals found in 123 minus the Kalium as discussed. Some want to remain doing their alk, ca, and mg dosing seperate.

123 is not "just" alk ca and mg as you state above, is everything in ABC as well as as Kalium.

Your list looks fine but why not the Aminos.

Amazon carries the salt as well.

Sorry if I missed something, but there was allot of questions.

I was wondering if you guys did anything special when converting salts? Like mix your old salt with the probio salt for the first time, or just go for it with the AF?

I'm not a big fan of their discriptions of things. It talks about how it was developed by H Balling. I thought that ment the Balling method which I believe ment just keeping alk, cal, and mag at nsw. I see that it adds microelements , mag, and ca. By adding this does it raise ca or mag levels? I'm a little lost since it seems a little vague.

I have some kz aminos and I'm going to finish that before ordering Coral A.

Tweaked thanks for the time for the response. How large is your water volume? You have a very nice tank btw.

I have about 180g and did four 22g changes in the first week then back to the normal 22g per week. "Descriptions of things", not sure what you mean but the program is very easy to understand and the two guides they have will tell you everything you need to know. The balling program is the process of manually dosing both the macro and micro elements but AF took this a step forward and created multi ways to accomplish the same thing.

Here is the Balling method
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bZy7RS8kEag" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You have three components A calcium B Alk C Trace elements and mag.
I have used this method for years on small tanks. You mix the powers in three containers per directions.
Then dose them separately at least an hour apart. Using an alk test adjust your dosing to achieve the level of alk you wish to maintain. You adjust slowly I generally change dosing in 5 ml steps either up or down wait a day and recheck your alk. If at the level of alk you wish to maintain. Recheck in a day to see if it is at the same level. I have noticed with Aquaforest program I was seeing a rise in Alk levels after a couple of weeks dosing. So you might need to watch more closely your Alk levels.
Balling method is the way alk and calcium is maintained around the world is a very common method.
