Update:
I gave the Mitratus all my patience but he was just too destructive. He's gone to a 300 FOWLR now and for now the PE has returned haha. Two flashers are doing well in QT but the CB butterfly in with them has a small case of lympho so I'm gonna watch them all for a while just to be safe. My battle with bubble algae continues, I hate this stuff. I'm also still having diatom issues, they've just never gone away since the initial setup, it's frustrating cause none of my other sand beds ever had this issue. I know not too exciting of an update but I'm still alive, haha,
Your patience with the fish in QT is admirable. Sounds like you're on the right course though to let the CB fight it off.
Regarding the diatoms, I know the frustration. I'm still dealing with them too. I might give Spectrapure a call to see if they have an idea. I don't know where the silicates would otherwise be coming from. Every day it's, clear sand bed all day until the halides come on -- diatoms start showing up -- lights turn off and next morning the sand bed is clear. Rinse and repeat. Grr...
