I have been there twice in the past couple months, and the customer service was terrible both times. First, it took me to go seek them down and ask for help, then, when asked questions, they seem to be annoyed, and reluctant to answer. One word answers. They just seem like a bunch of crabby unfriendly people there. Anyone else get this there?? Also, both times they overcharged me for my purchases--only like a buck or two, but still. I realized it once I got home, and didn't feel like driving all the way back there for a couple bucks, since I don't live close to them. I am done giving them my business.

Well, I don't mean to ask like a whiny b!tch or anything, but I feel like when you take your business and hard earned money to stores (not just fish stores) you should receive some courtesy and professionalism.
Not feel like you are bothering them being there. It's total BS IMHO.

i bought some pepper mints from there one time. I asked the girl for a little more water in the bag and she almost added swim system water. I politely reminded her the swim systems have copper. Had I been a regular joe, they would have never made it home

AA is one of my favorite stores I have nothing but good things to say about that store, I like the fact that I only get a nob and a "howz it goin" when I walk in. They have some of the most reasonable priced corals and fish in town also. I have also NEVER been misinformed there

I stood outside of the store waiting for them to open when i happened to be on that side of town early one morning. I arrived 5 minutes before they opened and watched as 3 employees walked by the door and never even acknowledged me. I figured maybe there clock is off so being a patient man I waited............. 15 minutes after they were supposed to open I left ****ed that not once did someone come to the door even to explain that they weren't opening on time. Too bad because I went to another LFS an spent $1,200 on a new chiller, several new corals, and a pump. I don't like being mobbed when I am shopping but I do want to feel like a business wants to earn my money. I will not travel to that side of town to give them business anymore.

I know, but I might as well live in Idaho, and just get all my stuff from the internet. I would much rather spend my money online, then go back there and be treated like they do.

i agree, i was in there just today, and although they have some really nice coral and fish, i've never had good service in there. there are always 4 or 5 employees, but only one or two of them are there to help, the others seem to be set up guys. i've never been misinformed and they seem knowledgable, but it seems almost painfull for the employees (especially the two women) to talk to you. i've never said anyting on a public forum, but since it was already brought up......
very nice store though...just really really bad customer service. it is what it is, i'll still go in there, i just know what to expect.

Not me, I'll drive further and go to ATR where they appreciate you and your business.

always had good luck with the service and the livestock. they like me! they really really like me! hmmmm not sure why?

I like aqua touch and about the reef they always seem to have the nicest stuff in the valley. They cost a little more but I think it's worth it.

I was down from Idaho (Flagstaff) today and decided to visit a few stores. Interestingly I had the same experience at AA. There appeared to be one dude in there behind the counter and a few customers. He seemed too absorbed in conversation to come help anyone.
Then on to Pets Inc. and ATR. I was not mobbed, but I was given attention. They both got my business.

I think All the LFS have days just like that.
It sucks but they are always busy.
REEFDNA now that is really bad sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear that but honestly if you have ever worked retail then you know most days are a real PIA. I know at times it feels like you are ignored and such and I am guilty of ranting about it, but seriously we are fortunate to have 3 stores within about a 5 mile radius in the east valley so when I feel slighted I just go onto another store and try them another day. Not trying to call you out just looking at it from another angle, heck I have felt ignored pretty much by every freakin store here I've been in and that would leave me standing with a goldfish in a bag from the state fair! Don't get to bummed just don't go back for a while and be sure to give all the stores a chance.

I agree with blas. I've had good and bad experiences at every LFS I've been in. If one treats me poorly I move onto the next. Living in a large metropolitan area does have it's benefits and that's called competition and/or choices!

My wife and I owned what was at the time the largest scrapbooking store in Utah and I understand the retail business. I would have fired an employee on the spot if the store was opened late and a customer went unacknowledged at the front door. In truth this was just the final straw for me with AA I had been there twice before with little to no employee contact. I don't think it was a three time coincidence. My final thought is this. If someone care about AA they need to let them know about customers feelings and hopefully they will change.

I agree with blas and tmorey about how nice it is to have a choice her in the valleyt.I would be tempted to give them another chance if I heard stories that they had turned around. In truth this thread is a gold mine for AA if they can read it and take it to heart. I hope they do.

Sorry to agree somewhat...

Sorry to agree somewhat...

I live within 5 minutes of AA and have been there often. I agree about the service and the "grouchy" women but their prices selection are hard to beat and just like buying a car I am not there to be friends with the salesman but get the best product and price. It has not always not been so, in the past their prices have been consitently higher but it seems to have changed. My hope is that someone well clue in the owner and direct him/her to this thread for his own good. I get the impression that one of "those women" might be somehow related to the owner, maybe we should feel sorry for him if that is so and he has too live with it all the time!! My vent is over. Steve.

I started this thread out of frustration, and also hoping the owners/employees were members here, and could read this and turn things around a bit.
