Aquascape inspiration

Im looking for any pics that i could use to inspire my aquascape. I'm scaping my new 265 so i have alot of room. anything that might get the ole creative juices flowing would be appreciated

I have yet to seen a tank comes close to the beauty of this tank:

The use of negative space and properly sized corals are second to none. The illusion of depth makes the tank larger than it really is. The result is simply stunning.

It's either 100g or a 120g but I don't remember the exact dimension. Another thing I like about this tank is the lighting. It's bright white with just enough blue for the illusion of depth. The popular lighting scheme today is a ridiculously amount of blue or purple light to make the corals "pop" and wash out every detail in the tank. Most tanks today are just a big blue bulb IMO.

That's the 2nd time I've seen that pic, and I'll be trying to do something similar with our 140 when we set it up.

I am pretty sure that tank was MUCH larger than 100-120 gallons. It was HUGE! I also think it is no longer set up...it is definitely one of the most inspiring tanks I have ever seen.

You are right. It's not 100g or 120g. The tank is 43x39x21 so it's about 150g. You can learn more about the tank in cpfarm.com.

Not unless you consider 150g to be huge. The tank appears to be huge because the negative space and illusion of depth.

Perhaps I was mistaken for another, similar reef. The one I am thinking of was located in Washington or Oregon and in a gentlemans garage. He had 4-6 halides over a monstrous tank, but the tank was torn down a year or two ago.

Regardless, the above mentioned tank is quite inspiring and mesmerizing.

Check out crazy4acros beautiful bonsai inspired aquascape here on the forums. It just made TOTM recently. One of my favorite aquascapes by far.

When scaping I like to keep a decent amount of the sandbed open and minimal rock constructed nicely mainly by using epoxy, acrylic rods, and zipties. These two together along with clean glass give you an infinite deapth look which IMO looks great. Theres also benefits like less constricted flow which leads to happy corals and less detritus build up, and a more natural feeling tank for the fish instead of just a rock wall. Just my 2 cents.
