Aquascaping opinions needed!

At the moment the Eye of the viewer has no where to rest, there is something happening in every inch of the tank. Where if you look at some other aquascapes (a reef in the sky) etc, they all have empty spaces or breaks for the viewers eye to rest. I feel the columns are effective but Would you consider breaking up the solid upper shelf? as a single flat body of rock it looks boring (dont get me wrong the corals are beautiful) but at the moment before they grow out, the outline of the rocks as a composition is literally flat. Maybe make one of the columns a stand alone pillar with coral growing out from the sides and on top? or remove one of the columns for a large cave for LPS? Then again when its all grown in, that whole top section will disappear in sps.. .

I think I might do a another reaquascape. What do you guys think about 3 islands? One thing that really bothers me about my tank is the 2 large hideous overflows in the back. I feel like I have to cover 80% of it. 120g tank owners please post your mature sps reef tanks.

I would go with the less is more theory. The new scape has way to much rock in it. The top is a good aquascape but the pillars underneath look to fake

I'll be having the same issue with dual overflows in the 140. I'll just figure it out once I get rock in it LOL. Vertical surfaces are very hard to get coral growing on, IME.

I personally like the first better. One of the problems you may experience with scape #2 is as the sps grows, they will quickly be exposed to air if you shut off you main return pump to allow coral food to circulate or during water changes. Scape #1 gives more vertical room for growth. I am impressed how difficult it must have been to balance the rock they way you did it.

I know what you mean but less is also very boring at the same time IMO.

Honestly I like neither. I would take some rock out and try for a few pillars or spaced islands.

It's not easy with the 2 ugly overflows in the back. I also would like to have actual hiding spaces for fish.

Yeah the vertical surface might be a problem. That is why I was thinking of 3 islands; so, I can just get them to grow from the side to top.

I've seen those and some are nice but I wouldn't do it.

scape 1 had too much open space and dint cover the overflows enough which bothered me. It took me over 12 hours to get scape 2. Sadly, I might redo it.

I also thought about combining pillar 1 and 2 together. Do you think it will look better that way?
